How to seal?

I feel for whatever reason that im not seal my hair right. I use a liquid moisturizer (scurl) and seal with grease. I feel that when i put the grease over the scurl they are just mixing together and not really in layers like they should be. Do i let the scurl or water dry up then seal? or am i doing it okay?

I get better results when I let my moisturizer absorb into my hair strand a bit before I add my oil to seal.

I never like sealing, so I compromised and mix my moisturizer with oil/butter, rub my palms together and apply that way. Works much, much better for me.
