How to Date 101 - White Guys / Black Women

I absolutely positively draw the line at considering a romantic relationship with a Republican. I can't even decide which is the worse relationship candidate for me, a white republican or a black one. Either way, one of us would end up trying to kill the other.

:nono:

I love the wit of CP..always funny

Plus, he told me he'd already told them about me, shown off my picture to them and they are excited to meet me.

Have you ever done it cold turkey where the parents have no idea you might be black.

I'm in that situation and I don't know if I can do it. Its a lot easier when they are told, I don't really feel self conscious if all parties are prior informed

JMHO- It's unfair to put someone in that position. I would want my SO to warn them, because the whole "shock factor" can be intense.

No, that's never happened. All the parents knew beforehand that I was black. Usually, the guys showed their parents a picture of me (and I do that with my parents too).

I agree with AuthenticityManifesting. Even if the parents are the most anti-racist, black-people loving white folks in the world, there's still probably going to be a surprise factor when you walk in and they're expecting someone else.

UNLESS you're dating some Robert DeNiro clone who only dates black women so the parents would be surprised if you were NOT black.

I think your SO should tell his parents that you are black before you meet them. :yep:
