How often to you do protein treatments?

I usually do a strong protein 1 week b/4 a relaxer and 1 week after a relaxer. Most of the moisturizing weekly conditioners that I use have protein. I am beginning to question if that is okay

Thanks in advance

good question, my hair is the same as yours...
Id like to see what others have to say about this...

my hair is very fragile, so I have been doing one every two weeks(my stylist told me it was ok, but to alternate every other week between a moisturizing and a protein)

Im not sure if this is too often or not enough when Im dealing with major shedding and breakage...like right now Im 6 weeks post relaxer with a ton of new growth(surge???) and my hair is coming out a lot when I comb it or manipulate it much. Tomorrow Im either going to use Nexxus emergencee(it says it can be used weekly??) or my design essentials 6 in 1 reconstructor...

then its buns and braidouts for the next few weeks until I get it relaxed...its getting to where Im afraid to touch it...lol.

Lite protein - weekly (AO GPB)
Heavy protein - 1x per month (aphogee)

10-14 days b4 a relaxer - heavy protein
10-14 days after a relaxer - heavy protein

Im thinking of doing a lite protien weekly now, I guess b.c I have a ton load of new growth. Last night I used CPR and I liked it. It's not a hard core protien at all, I like the way it made my hair feel afterwards.
I usually use Penetraitt once every 4-6 weeks, but I don't think Im buying a bottle anytime soon, especially if Im enjoying the CPR. Maybe when I relax and I want a strong protien I will buy another bottle of Penetraitt.

4b relaxed and I do a "hard core" protein (nexxus emergencee) the wash before and the wash after touchup. In the 10 weeks between touchups I do mostly moisturizing conditioners, with perhaps one or two "soft core" protein (nexxus keraphix or aubrey GPB), if needed or not at all, depending on my then current lifestyle and how my hair is behaving, how I'm styling, the season, etc. For example, during summer, I do more soft core proteins in between because I swim more and my hair needs the extra stregth. So, for me, three rules re: protein:

1. Use protein sparingly, use LOTS of moisure; thus, I generally do moisturizing treatments 95% of the time, and protein 5%.

2. ALWAYS do protein treatments before and after chemicals, even if don't do at any other time.

3. Use protein sparingly at all other times as needed.

I think you kinda have to "listen" to your hair because it is really easy to over do protein. Afterall, pretty much all the hair products have some form of protein them so err on the side of caution. IMO, relaxed hair has a much greater need for moisture than for protein. If I had to choose only ONE form of treatment forever, it would be the moisturizing treatments. . .

I do a strong protein once a month and a light one like GBP maybe twice a month or less. If I'm getting breakage, I'll do my strong protein more often.

I just started doing protein treatments after joining this forum so Im still new to protein treatments. Ive done 2 protein treatments so far (once in June and once in July). Im going to try doing them once a week but I have to find time to do so. I use ElastaQP Breakage Control Serum.

No clue what my hair type is.

I use aphogee immediatly following a relaxer. Neutralizing shampoo then aphogee. I find it helps keep my hair in better shape.

I also use right after i color. I color (bleach) very frequently. I attribute the hair on my head to religously applying aphogee immediatly after a process.

But on a regular basis...cpr once a month.

My hair thrives on heavy protein as it did when i was natural. I do hardcore protein over my cornrows every 4 weeks. Every week I use one of the following moisturising protein treatments: Motions CPR, Motions silk protein,ORS Hair Mayonnaise, lekair cholesterol. my hair type is primarily 4a, with 3c in back sections.

I'm 4a relaxed. I use a light protein (Aubrey GPB) weekly, and a stronger one (Affirm 5 in 1 or Dudley's Hair Rebuilder) once a month, and also a week before and a week after relaxer retouches.

I am 4a/4b/2a, and, my hair loves proteins. I do a DRC and Penetraitt combo every 6 weeks and a week after my relaxer or the same day. I also alternate moisture and protein treatments weekly. For this I use Nexxus Keraphix (keratin), St. Ives Silk and Shine (silk), PCJ Nutrientsheen (collagen), Elucence Moisture Retention treatment/Elasta Breakage control serum (wheat).

I do a lite protein treatment (AO GPB) every other week alternating between that and moisture. It seems to be working well for my hair. I might add something a little strong around perm time which is every 19 weeks.

I do a light protein twice a week because I condition wash with Mizani Fulfyl mixed with olive oil or other oils [I either use steam or a dryer with it]. I do a heavy protein treatment [Mizani kerafuse] once a month, and before and after a relaxer or color treatment.

I was using GPB as my only protein treatment once a week...but I changed to once a month. Since I'm transitioning now...I'm trying to focus more on moisture and less on protein. I think once a week was a little too much for my hair.

I guess I would be a mix of 3BC/4A?

So is Nexxus Emergencee considered to be a heavy protein treatment? I hate applying Aphogee and the smell makes me physically ill, but I want a good heavy protein before my next color treatment. I'm thinking of buying the Emergencee'.

Is Emergencee' a creamy or liquidy treatment?

Thanks in advance. I'm a 3C/4A.

Can someone list the type of conditioners that are considered protein heavy/light and where does a regular conditioners factor into this? like the dominican ones for example? are they considered heavy or light protein treatments? God bless you all.

But I use Nexxus Kerahix, Ion Effective Care Treatment, Loreal Mermade, or Kenra CMC weekly, and Emergencee as my heavy duty protein. Since I was twice weekly, thats when I rotate in moisturizing conditioners like Kenra MC, Nexxus Humectress etc.
