How often do you wash

Please don't believe this. It is one of many black hair myths. I daily wash as a natural and when I was relaxed, I washed 1X a week to cut down on heat use. I was able to wash n go after a month post, so I daily Cwed then.

Just curious, someone told me that its not good for black women to wash their hair too often.How often do you wash your hair and how does your hair tolerate it, include hair type please?

My hair is 4b and texlaxed with no-lye. I started my journey with the Cathy Howse method and wash and deep condition 2 x each week. Relaxers dry out the hair and washing more frequently keeps the hair moisturized at all times.

I wash my hair twice each week. If I don't, my scalp gets so itchy and I like my scalp to be clean. I have 4a hair.

I wash 3 times per week and I deep condition at each watch. Conditioner is like food to the hair so the more you condition your hair, the healthier the hair is. If you read Shamboosie's book it talks about the importance of conditioning the hair. He talks about how the average deep conditioner leaves a protective coating on the hair for about 3-5 days, so if you conditioner every 3-5 days, your hair is always protected from the elements and therefore is healthier.

I think that the saying is part true. I don't think it's good for black people to wash their hair with shampoo everyday. I think it's better to do that weekly. But I've read that there is nothing wrong with rinsing your hair everyday or even co-washing it every day or every other day. It's just that shampoo is a detergent, so it's best not to use it too often. I guess if a person wanted to shampoo more often they could dilute it to make it weaker, but it's up to them.

4a, natural, cowash once a week, rinse hair once a week. I would cowash more if I was wearing my hair out, but I'm on a low-mani kick, so once a week it is.

Okay, I am being BAD. It's going to be three weeks tomorrow since I washed....lazy gal I am.

Anywho, my last wash I did an Emergencee treatment. Should I do another protein with this wash like a Keraphix or should I got heavier and do another Emergencee of Aphogee 2 min? Seeing how I haven't washed (AND DC'd) in weeks? My hair is still retaining moisture, but the shedding has started. I DO plan on washing Friday.

I co-WASH my hair everyday right now and my hair is loving it. It doesn't break as much because the only time i comb it is when it saturated in water and conditioner! I roll it up and finger comb in the morning. Plus I like that my hair always smells delicioso!!

Any less frequent and my scalp itches, any more frequent and...my scalp itches. During hot weather or frequent vigorous exercise, I may rinse my scalp in between washings to avoid shampoo on the hair.

The washing myth is pretty well known around here.

I wash twice a week most weeks but sometimes I do once a week when my schedule at work is incredibly hectic. I like to DC everytime I wash so I only wash 1 to 2 times per week. I try to add in about 1 or 2 co-washing as well because it's easier to do and takes up wayyyy less time than washing and DC-ing.

The exact same thing happens to me........I am so lazy and hate washing or simply handling my hair. I will go two weeks without washing and it starts to shed and shed and shed, but it looks so shiny and feels so moisturized.

Is it the not washing that's making it shed?????
