How often do you moisturize?

I use Qhemet Biologics Products, alternating between Burdock Root Butter Cream and the Heavy Cream. The Heavy Cream gives me a head start for the week for after shampoo dryness but I maintain with the Burdock Root Butter Cream. I always seal with Nasabbs Kelechi Oil. I hate having to order my products, but I have never tried anything as good as these in any stores.
Thanks for the recommendation. I just checked out the website. $16 for 8oz, eeks?! Would you mind listing the ingredients? I want to know what I'm buying before I shell out the cash.

Well, I don't have a bottle on me now, but I think she will tell you if you email her. I think they have been posted on the board before, too. I will try to do a search for you.

Don't let the price or size of the jar fool you, though. The product is very concentrated and will last a LONG TIME. I literally only use a tiny bit per section of hair. I do use more of the Olive Cream Detangler because that is my leave in.

I will see if the ingredients are posted someplace.

Edited to add:

Here are the ingredients:

Olive Cream Conditioner and Detangler ingredients:

Thanks so much! I peeped some behentrimonium methosulfate in the olive cream conditioner, so that is very good news. Based on your word that it's good, I'm going to go ahead and get some Qhemet's...and if it doesn't work, I'm seeking my refund from you!!!....:lachen:Just kidding! I've been meaning to try some of the special lines (ex: Carol's Daughter, Oyin Handmade etc), so this is my chance. Thanks a lot, HoneyDew! :love2:

Girl, if you don't like it I will buy it from you.

You might want to consider the sample pack, too.

I really want to try her 2 oils myself. I have about 3 bottles of kelechi oil to use up first before I try those. It will be good if they work just as well as the Kelechi oil because then I can get all of those from Qhemet. It would save me shipping costs, although Nasabb always has good deals on the Kelechi Oil.

Hi HoneyDew!
I ordered this based on your review. I'm patiently awaiting my order, hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get home this evening.

Have you used it as a leave in on wet hair? I wonder how it would work if I rollerset with it?

I haev not used it as a leavein YET. I can't wait to try because I think it will be WONDERFUL for that. It is just that I have about 3 tubs of Olive Cream Detangler to use up as my leave-in and I don't want to fall in love with the Burdock as my leave in just yet.

I do think it would be GREAT for rollersets. It is light and still moisturizing. I can use it and still have movement in my hair.

Hmmm... I probably moisturize my hair every other day but no more than 3x a week. My ends are moisturized on a daily basis. Keeps those nasty split ends away and that helps me retain length.

I plan to rollerset this weekend so hopefully I'll have my order by then. I'll be sure to let you know how I like it.

I was eyeing the Olive Cream Detangler too....if all goes well with the Burdock Creme , the Olive Creme will be my next Qhemet purchase.

I'm glad to know these products are effective but lite :yep:
I hate flat greasy hair :nono:

I use NTM on my ends when I wrap my hair up at night. I use NTM as a leave in along with Elasta QP Intense and Elasta QP Silk for my wet set. I use Keracare Creme Hairdress after taking the rollerset down and two more times in the week before the next wash.

How do you guys moisturize?

First, I spray my hair with water so that it is damp and then I seal in the water with my moisturizing leave-in. (I do this daily, to answer the OP.)

Does anyone just put the moisturizer right on or do it some other way?

I have to confess that I have not been sticking to a hair regiman and I am lucky I have come this far with out it. :nono:

But I plan to Moisterize Daily and DC once a week.:drunk: My big problem is my hair drying out overnight and me waking up to a matted dry mess.

I am transitioning from relaxed to natural and I have been relying on my cousins for direction but this website has been very helpful already and I just joined today.

Very good question. Lately I've wondered something similar. If I come across a product to be found that only requires use after each wash, I'll keep you posted. :yep:

I moisturize on an as-needed basis. Usually daily, but sometimes I skip. The only sure time is before any manipulation. I stand against dry-combing with an iron fist! :yep:

I just put the moisturizer right on, I do not spay my hair with water first when dry. The only time my hair is wet is adding these product is after a wash and condish.

Some don't find the Heavy Cream lite (thus the name ). But that stuff will fix dryness! If your hair is super dry in a bad way, that stuff as an over night treatment even will get you in order quick! It has never failed me when my hair feels super dry. When my hair is overly dry (like after protein or too much shampooing) it gets me in order much quicker than the Burdock Cream. But the Burdock is good, too.

I remember the first time I used the Burdock. I had done a henna treatment and my hair was feeling very dry. I was upset because I had a flight to catch the next day for a week long work trip. You know during things like you you don't have time for any hair issues! Anyway, I put it on my ends and put in a clip-on piece and put my hair up with a claw clip for the flight. I decided that would be my reggie for the week. Every night in the hotel I used the Burdock sample seal with oil and tied my hair up and worked a clip-on in my hair up during the day. I remember after about 4 days when I was taking my hair down for the evening, it was SO soft and moisturized but not heavy and greasy. I even used some Carusos that night and had a very nice set without heaviness for a dinner out with the other folks there. I knew then that stuff was great! I could not have used heavy cream everyday like that. It would have been too much. So that is why I use both. There are times when my hair's need either-or.

everyday

i've tried lessening my moisturizing
(just because i wanted to lessen manipulation)

but i feel weird if i dont moisturize lol

My Burdock Creme came today

HoneyDew thank you for the recommendation :kiss:Once again you were right!
As soon as I got home I opened the jar, right away I could tell from the consistency it was light (but creamy). The smell is very lite & pleasant.

I applied it thoughout my hair & put it in a high ponytail with a roller. My hair felt sooo soft and moist. I can tell this is a keeper.

I don't suffer from severe dryness but I have had to step up my moisture game because of this cold weather. The NTM wasn't cutting it.

I can't wait to use it on freshly washed hair!

welcome to the board cousin! so glad u joined

I hope this doesnt sound stupid. I guess not knowing this ended me.. not be able to take care of my natural hair. It was always not soft and hard to comb through. I couldnt even comb into the edges.

When you say moisturize... do you mean the scalp.. or moisturize the hair.
I know I oil my scalp every two days. But for the hair.. What do you moisturize your hair with?
People are talking about moisturizing the hair.

I moisturize every day using S-Curl and sealing my ends with castor oil. I bought the sample set from Qhemet Biologics and I love the Burdock and Heavy Cream. These creams really make my hair soft. I can't wait until the full size products arrive.

I moisturize everyday, when I'm in braids like I am now, I moisturize my hair twice a day, just to make sure my ends aren't being robbed of moisture.

It depends on how my wash was for the week. Sometimes when I got to the salon they do something during that wash that keeps my hair moisturized all week long and I will literally need nothing.

Then I there are other times where I moisturize everyday or 3xs a week.

I oil my scalp practically every night, but I moisturize my hair nightly with either ORS Olive Oil lotion or vitapointe (coconut oil to seal the ends).
