$200 for micros in Atlanta. Wouldn't get them again because they tore out my edges.

Ditto and ditto.

I've been going to Ouly's on Old National (Atlanta) for about 9 years. However, Ouly is the ONLY one I will let braid my micros. She's fantastic. Always professional, neat, and never too tight. However, once I let someone else braid it and they snatched my edges out something awful. :(

$200 +tip, so usually about $220 (including the hair).

In Md you will pay at least $150-200 or more if you include human hair the minimum is $200. I noticed that it never really matter sho braided it so long as they were African or Jamaican. What counted was the quality of hair. I get really upset when i have paid a decent amount of money for the braids then I skimp on the hair. I end up taking them out within two months. An investment in Remy or custom hair is pertinent or buy the bestatthe store. Beverly Johnson makes a decent grade of human hair.

im in NJ. I paid $130. hair not included. All things considered...i would've paid more if i had to because they were super teeny tiny . It took 11 hours to put in since i have alot of hair. Took 14 hrs to take out :wallbash:

*tiny braids are not advised but luckily my hair thrived from it.*

Here in NY, you would pay from $120-150 for micros. It's expensive. I've paid it a few times. I was happy to find a regular person, who did my hair in their house for like $80.

Also, I'm glad I learned to braid my own hair since I was 11.

I'm living in San Diego and for my hair and the salon I'd go to, they'd charge about $300.
A friend of mine got individuals and they charged her $320.

I really miss living in DC where there are a ton of places to get your hair braided.....for less money.
I can't even find anyone here that can do senegalese twists how I like them.

$0.00

you could not pay me to put those thing in my head again. here's why:

1. after a certain length, it takes too long to install. that length is past ear length imo. the last time i got micros i was shoulder length and it took sooooo long to braid past my hair.

2. i don't like the way you get those lint knots around your hairline

3. taking them down is just as much h e l l as putting them in

4. they promote breakage around the hairline

5. the pressure and tightness of the braids is not healthy AT ALL. i've learned that pain in your head after getting your hair done, even for 1 day is NOT GOOD.

Oh, if someone's paying someone to wear them, I'm willing to take it. Any offers? Otherwise I'm happy to wear them for free.

Since I always braid to the end of the extensions, it takes me as long to put them in for short hair as it does for shoulder-length hair. Put another way: too long.)

2. i don't like the way you get those lint knots around your hairline

I never do. I think not using any products in my hair and redoing my braids as needed helps w/ this.

3. taking them down is just as much h e l l as putting them in

It probably is if you take them all out. I never do. I just redo one at a time as needed once they are all in--but that's because I don't mind living in braids 24/7. So I actually enjoy taking them out and putting them in, when redoing them one at a time. I hate when I have to leave home and be in public coz I can't play with my hair without annoying onlookers. Taking them down is half the fun for me. :drunk:

4. they promote breakage around the hairline

Not if they're done properly by you so you can control the firmness and weight of hair added so it's not exerting too much strain on your hairline; and not if you redo them as soon as you have new growth so they don't swing painfully or mat at the base.

5. the pressure and tightness of the braids is not healthy AT ALL. i've learned that pain in your head after getting your hair done, even for 1 day is NOT GOOD.

Mine are never tight. I've braided 2-year-old babies while they slept and use the same gentleness on my own head.

^^ Good work, Nonie. Maybe I should stop going to the sheisty braiders. Haha I haven't gotten extension braids in years, and I never really wanted the micro ones because I always heard that they took so long to put in. I was just never willing.

I need for you to move to San Diego so you can open a shop and do my hair, lol. :yep:

Yeah, stop going to dem sheisty braiders  Learn how to do them on yourself. They're a load of fun to do--ask us HIH disease sufferers . You just rent movies on Day 1 and braid your hair as you watch the movies. Time goes by w/o you noticing and if you get tired, just put on a hat till you're next in the mood to do them. When they're all in, TV time becomes the time you play w/ your hair while tidying up your braids. It's very addictive. And before you know, your hair is growing quietly behind your back. Re-braiding hair while watching TV means you don't get to check length, so it creeps up on you. What a joy it is when you wake up one day and not recognize the hair on your head.

I need for you to move to San Diego so you can open a shop and do my hair, lol. :yep:

I'skurred to open a shop in case I hurt someone when I get fed-up of braiding LOL. Whenever I'd braid someone's hair, I'd rent movies so she'd not get bored, get snacks and even let her lie down and sleep if she wanted to while I jumped over her and did somersaults and headstands to reach sections of her hair that were hard to reach normally w/o waking her up. Need I tell you that I was ready to beat her up by the time we were done? :lachen:

When you're braiding someone else, you can't take a break when you want to, the way you can when braiding your own hair. You are like a prisoner sentenced to life with parole only when task is completed. I hate doing time--especially when I didn't commit any crime.

I used to do them for $60-100. I was younger and thought that was big money. lol:lachen:
Now I do them for no less than $180 an thats being generous...

I have heard anywhere from 150 to 200 dollars for micros. I paid only 100 about nine years ago but the lady was ghetto fabulous...took her two days to finish. Never again:nono:....

I haven't had them in a couple of years but I used to get them done for $150, human hair included at a shop in Irvington ,NJ ( Shout out to Mami's on Clinton Ave). That was the going rate at most shops in that area.

if only the the braiding shops were as meticulous as you are!
i'd venture to bet that 99% of them are NOT.
like you, that's why i braid my own hair, but i only do corn rows now and they never hurt.

i never got micros but ive gotten singles done by my god mother. in 2006 she did them for 100
now i do my own hair but id never get micros i dont have the patience to take them out

I voted under a $100 because I only pay for the hair. I taught myself to braid in college and I've been doing my micros for about 10 years now. I don't see the point in paying someone to do it when I can do it myself. Plus it gives me the excuse to pay more for better quality (and longer) human hair.

Hey

I live in ny. I used to pay 80, when I had micros. Besides the woman I went to, braided nice and quick and I reffered mad people to her so she always gave me a break.

I remeber i was getting my hair done in micro synthetics really long at the Africans in Harlem and I had about 3 girls on my head..one of them were braiding the temple..she was half way down..why did the whole braid pop right out of my temple..including my hair with it..
it said pop...
she said...OH O!
I looked and we both laughed...and said..ah well..
now u now back then i didnt give a dayum about hair health...but to think that my whole temple popped out of my head...roots and all...:nono::nono: a hot mess...my poor edges...

i have been paying 230 for mines here in alabama.thats 30 for two packs of hair plus 200 for the braids.they are soooo cute though.i leave em in for 8 weeks at a time.and the braiders are african and do a wonderful job.

I pay 100 or 140 (african ladies that work out of their house)

A professional in a shop will run you 180+ish around these parts for the similar size/style micros (houston area).

Hair not included

Let's see the synthetic ones I have in my hair I paid 7.00 for because I buy the hair and do them myself lol
