Ok so I wanna try and do my own micro braids and I just wanted to know how much the hair costs and how many packages I would need to do my head? Also what types of hair are the best to use for micros? And any tips you guys have for putting them in.
Well, I braid my own hair and the cost of the hair depends on what kind of hair you prefer using and where you plan on buying (local BSS or online etc). It takes me 1.5 days to braid my hair... but I take breaks
^^What she said. The amount of hair you buy also depends on the size of your head, how long the braids will be, how small the micros will be, etc. Will you use synethic or human? This plays a factor in price.
Some people have allergic reactions to some synthetic hair, such as an itchy or sore scalp, so that could make a difference in the type of hair and the price you may pay. Two synthetic types that come to mind are kankelon and toyakelon.
My local beauty supply sales synthetic braid hair for $2.00 to $10.00 a pack. Human hair can range from 15.99 to 60.00 (or more) a pack. Most people use between 2 to 4 pack.
Synthetic hair is cheaper than human hair. And longer hair is more expensive than shorter hair. I usually need two packs of human hair. I remember synthetic hair coming in bigger bunches per bag so maybe one would be enough. (I do fold the hair in half so I usually buy a length that is twice what I'd need.)
