How Many times a week/month water hit your hair?

Please help ... I'm new to my HHJ .....and i heard that if i DC mid week and wash on the weekends ...that will help my hair grow and stay moisturized. but how do i make my hair look nice? it looks all frizzy and water waved (i feel like my hair is ugly and undone), it makes no since to style if I'm putting water on my hair so frequently.. i guess I'm looking for a neat hair style for air dried short texturized hair. or will i receive good hair result if i put water to my hair weekly/ bi weekly? and is roller set under hooded drying every two weeks too much heat??
all opinion are welcome
thanx

Hello New Sister! We are very glad to have you with us. All of us have been newcomers to this journey. I am still learning my hair after 3 years of official naturalness. I am currently co washing twice weekly, with a deep conditioner with each co wash session. I use a cleansing conditioner on the weekends with a deep conditioner as well. I apply a coffee rinse prior to the DC and a tea rinse to combat shedding at the end after I use an apple cider spray which is highly diluted. I braid up my hair after applying oil, a leave in and a cream and let my hair rest. I am not really good at styles either. I think 2014 will be my year for attempting braid outs with rolled ends or bantu knot outs. I have used wigs for protective styling since last summer. I think with the right ingredients, and some patience you and I may both learn how to create some attractive textured styles. Best wishes!

Wash 2xs a week:
Shampoo & DC 1x
cowash 1x

Airdry and Bun both times.

ETA: When I feel like it.. I'll cowash 4-5xs a week

My hair gets water nightly. I spritz my hair lightly with water, and apply a small amount of styler when necessary (oil, cream, butter, gel, serum etc) to refresh my style, tie my hair up with a scarf/pineapple it/Bantu knot itit (whatever needs to be done to maintain the style) and put on my bonnet. In the morning, my hairstyle still looks fresh. I cleanse my hair weekly. I try to alternate a different method each week: shampoo, cowash, cleansing conditioner, mudwash. I also deep condition weekly. I tend to use LOC or LCO every styling day. I like a lot of Shea Moisture products and water tends to re-activate theirs and other good products.
HTHs! :-)

Shampoo/cocleanse 1x per week followed by a DC.

Cowash 1x per week (if I feel like it...often I don't do this).

Overall I would say water hits my hair once per week, sometimes twice in the form of a cowash or a light spritz.

I add a refresher leave in every two to three days once I feel like moisture is giving out.

Most of the time 3x a week, but it ranges from 1x - 5x a week depending on my mood.

I mostly bun or French/Dutch crown braids. I use a little gel - aloe vera gel or xtreme gel - to smooth down frizz.

part of the reason i wet/rinse so frequently is because i work with really young kids and kiddie germs (as much as i love the little guys) end up on me. snot, boogers, spit, sand...haha. theres always a..."gift" to be shared lol...also...it feels good and my hair loves it. i cut my hair super short recently (its about 4.5-5 inches stretched, but looks about 1/2 inch when not stretched) so, at this time im not really worrying about styles too much...jisy wearing it as is most of the time...but when it was longer, i was usually in twists or id wear it rolled in the front & bunned in the back...or id do 2 large flat twists in the shower

*contemplates washing more often*

Your HHJ may require you to rethink what you consider " unkempt" " :look:

A lot of AA women have short hair because they are trying to live a 1-2 lifestyle when clearLy they are 3Z - 4Z :yep: Some of us have been thru awkward stages during our journey. If your uncomfortable in this stage, consider a wig.

Welcome!

I wash my hair every two weeks. Water only hits my hair in between that time through a rare light spritz as needed. At one point I was washing once weekly and I found that was too much manipulation for my hair. I have kinky curly WL hair that takes a lengthy process to wash, seal in moisture, and style.

i condition rinse 4 nights a week
cleanse/dc once a week (sunday)

friday & saturday are usually my off days

I pretty much follow this same exact schedule. It's gotten to the point where I can't really fall asleep unless I take a shower and cowash my hair at night. Spritzing water from a spray bottle just doesn't do it for me.

At least 3 times a week, I exercise a lot now and need to rinse my hair after otherwise my scalp would itch like mad.

Usually 2x per week. When I am approaching 6 weeks post I may need to cowash 3 times to keep my new growth from getting to dry and tangly. However, I have fine hair and using JBCO and other oils regularly on my scalp, so I must wash or cowash semi often to keep my hair from being to heavily weighed down and to cleans my scalp.

Water hits my hair 2 x per week. 1 for my wash day (Saturday) and the other for my co-wash day (Tuesday). I am relaxed and this works well for my hair maintenance and my lifestyle.

Dshsjh4ever, You might get a different response if you pose this question to relaxed ladies only. :look: For example, I'm texlaxed. Washing my hair everyday won't 'help' my hair style like it might for natural ladies because I'm not doing wash and go's. I'm not trynna revive a curl. Also, remember that hair is at it's weakest when it's wet. That matters more to relaxed heads.

I don't wash more than twice a week, and that's only in the summer when I'm wearing twist-outs. Fall- early spring, it's once every 7-10 days because I tend to do sets and what-not during those months.

Hope that helped. Good luck and welcome!

since you're texturized..I would look for a good moisturizing leave-in. for smoothness, how does weekly rollerset set sound?

I've been at once a week for a little while now and it's not cutting it. I need to get over being lazy if I want to grow back to MBL and get beyond that. Now my routine will be to prepoo, shampoo, and DC once a week and do a cowash or rinse and conditioner midweek. I don't know how I got so lazy. I used to wash and do my hair daily :spinning:.
