About how long does your ponytail need to be for a decent bun. I'm thinking about 6 inches? More or less?

I think it depends on the thickness of hair. For me, my hair is just about collar bone length, but because it's so thick...I can't even THINK about a bun. I need at least another 4 inches, before I can get a bun.

See, I'm thinking, the thicker the hair, the less length taht you'll need for a decent bun. It doesn't have to be a bun that spins all around a scrunchy, just one that's relatively full in the back.

My hair is not all that thick so for a nice voluminous bun, it is about 3 inches to brastrap on. And this is for a loose bun. It will probably be floor length before I have a volumnious tightly twisted bun /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

I've got alittle more than 6 inches, I can make a bun but it's not cute.
