My hair stays moisturized until the next wash day. When I'm lazy I can go 7 days before washing and my hair stays moist. But most of the time I wash 1-2 times a week.
For moisture I use Silk Elements Megasilk Hair Moisturizing Leave In or VO5 Moisture Milks Passion Fruit Smoothie (I use this as a leave in not as a rinse out conditioner).
I shingle my moisturizer/leave-in into damp hair. Then seal each section with my oil mix of coconut, castor, and olive. After sealing with my oil mix I apply wheat germ oil to each section. My hair stays soft and moist.
My hair holds moisture very well so I don't use any porosity control products.
As far as the type of water, I just use what comes from the tap. I don't have any filters. I believe it is hard or moderately hard. I clarify at least once a month.
I wear my hair in a puff all the time. I twist my hair every nite and I sleep in a satin bonnet or silk scarf whichever one I grab. I believe these things help alot with moisture retention.
