How do you know your hair is well moisturized

When...
  • it's soft
  • I see little to no breakage while styling or other manipulating
  • I stretch a strand of hair that has shed, and it has significant elasticity
When ALL of the above are true, I'm satisfied with my moisture level.

Ditto. And to add, for me, being relaxed, I don't add a lot of additional moisturizers. I seal in what I put on when I wash. I add water or lottabody to wrap my hair and seal with an oil. I never saturate my hair to keep it moist.

It's soft to the touch, cool, shiny, it appears less frizzy and ...I get tons of complitments about how healthy it looks!

This is an excellent question. My hair never feels moisturized. I've tried glycerin and water, kids organic, unrefined shea and aloe butter. It feels nice and soft as soon as I apply it, but 2 minutes later it still feels and looks dry. idk sorry I couldn't help. I know this is frustrating.

Ediese,

My hair feels dry quite a bit too but these past few days it feels much better. I made a mixture of water (poland spring), glycerin, Vitamin E, rosemary e.o., peppermint e.o., tea tree e.o. and castor oil ( I forgot to add my Aloe Very juice) and put in a spritz bottle. I shake it up when I'm ready to spritz. I usually do it at night, put a shower cap over my hair and tie it down. I've been wearing 15 braids in my hair. My hair comes out very soft in the AM. Sometimes, I spritz twice a day. The thing I've noticed with this mix is that it has a cumulative effect so by Friday I'm super moisturized. Try that and see...

Might I add this test I use. It's the sound test.

I take my hair and squeeze it. If I can hear it, it's not moisturized enough. If it's moisturized just right, I don't hear the hairs being scrunched or crunched. :yep:
