HOW LONG do YOU STRETCH ?

Ive went 8 months, I dont remember much breakage, I washed my hair daily with CON green bottle and let it air-dry and moisturized with profective, and deep conditioned with Hair mayo....no protein treatments, crazy huh? I had just got on the board I thought hair mayo was strong enough protein! Anyway, I had a good stretch but usually I do 4-5 months now..

Usually 12 weeks. I think I went 14 last time and I'm on 13 this go round. I'm gonna try and make it to April. Hang in there honey! Yay April Fools Stretch Club! LOL

The longest I've ever stretched was 2 months :look:. My goal is to stretch to 3 months. I can't go longer than that... but never say never.

I'm almost 9 weeks post now and going for 16 weeks - to the 2nd week in April right before my birthday. I've only been texlaxed (from natural) since November so I'm still (re)learning what's best for my hair. My first stretch made it to 6-7 weeks. This time around WGO, scarves to flatten my newgrowth, and/or flat ironing has made it much easier. I also think I've found the right regimen for my hair - that also helps.

I'm at 12 weeks and I just put my C&G braids back in. They will stay until Mar 15, then I'll wait the required two weeks before relaxing. That'll bring me to 18 weeks! My longest stretch ever!

I used to be a 4-6 week girl. Last time I went 8. This time I'm shooting for 10-12. My goal is to relax 3-4 times per year. (13-17 weeks). :)

In 2005 I decided to try stretching. This stretch I went 13 weeks and I was suffering on the real. The perm really burned my scalp something awful. This is only my third stretch, the first two were for 10 weeks.

I want to stretch for four months because I really don't like getting perms and love my thick post relaxer hair but I have major breakage and I have color which adds to breakage (I think)

Until I can learn techniques to not look like I have a mini afro on top of my relaxed hair, I have no desire to ever stretch past 12 weeks (3 months).

I've gone 19 weeks. This last trip was 15 weeks. I try to stick to 12 weeks but the baby distracted me this last time.

I touched up last week after 18 weeks. I usually stretch to 10-12 weeks. I have scheduled my next touch up at the 12 week mark. I usually make my decision by how much new growth I have and how well my hair is doing.

Salaam,

This is my longest ever. I will be a year in April, and I must say I am sooooo proud of myself:D. Before I joined this site and before I found out I was expecting I would get a relaxer once a month. Not any more I going to reduce the amount of relaxers I get to 2-3x per year.

My last relaxer I stretched for about 10 weeks...I was very proud of myself! :D

But since I started using MTG, may hair has grown like mad. It's only been 5 weeks since my last relaxer, and I've been taming my new growth with wild grow oil, but it's getting to be too crazy...I hate to do it, but I'm getting a touchup this week.

I have tried to stretch to 12 weeks, the most I can go is 10 weeks. My new growth is too much!! I have products that tame my hair but I hate wash days (after the 9 week post relaxer mark).

The longest for me was 18months when I was transitioning without chopping. I subsequently got a texturizer. Currently, I am 6 months post touch up. I will probably do touch up sometime b4 8 months depending on the new growth. I had a bad touchup last time by professoional that caused breakage/ thinning in the back so I am trying to give my hair a break. Next time I will retouch myself.

I went 164 days (23.5 wks) for the Christmas stretch.

I'm trying to determine when the best times of year for me to do stretches are based on weather, season, growth patterns, etc.

I stretched for 9 weeks, the only problem I have is that my scalp is very sensitive and it's irritated by perms after the stretch. But I love to stretch because it gives your hair more body and it grows more.
Maybe you need to base your scalp with a really good base before you relax. Design essentials has one and Optimun.hth

LOL! :lachen::lachen:

I'm currently going into my ninth week, but with the MTG my hair's growing so fast I don't think it would be a good idea to go too much longer.

 Girl, thant's my problem too!! I never had issues with stretching until using MTG. I used to be able to go 12 weeks with no problem, but NOW.... forget about it. I don't KNOW how to deal with my hair anymore. :nono:

Now here's my rant:

I tried rollersetting for the FIRST time this past weekend and can you say DISASTER!! :whyme: Mind you, I'm only 8 weeks post. I'm only gonna go 10 weeks this go around. I'm even afraid to relax now, b/c of the parting that has to be done. I can see all the breakage and pain I'm gonna have to go through. :(

I REALLY don't know how you ladies do it?! --- Stretch without heat, airdrying, no braids, or weaves!! How do you rollerset the afro!! It took me 2 & 1/2 HOURS to put the rollers in and it came out so DRY and breaking. I had to wash my hair again. I wanted to cry so many times this weekend. I also think months and months of severely underprocessed hair has a lot to do with it so it probably feels like more than 8 weeks of new growth. :nono: I am really at my wits end.

PLUS, I put in sta sof fro on my new growth and my entire head turned ROCK hard. I have never seen so many broken little pieces of hair in my life!! I was gonna wash it out, but I'm afraid of overdrying with the washing so I just put some oil and went to bed. Now I just stare at my hair in the mirror not knowing what to do. This haircare thing is really starting to get to me for the first time. :( Rant over.
