How do you know what is real silk?

So...I already have a silk scarf from tenderheaded.com and I absolutely love it! (To the those ladies contemplating whether or not it is worth it...it is. In time, you will see a definite change in the moisture/shine of your hair.)

I saw some ladies suggest that we can go to any craft store and by silk there, and it will be much cheaper. I'm interested in buying different patterns and stuff to accessorize :look:

So my question is, how do you know what is genuine 100% silk? I've heard that it is cold to the touch, is that true?

I went to Jo Ann Fabrics and I felt their "purest silk". That crap was rougher than my satin. I walked out. The feel of it is enough for me to tell.

So it's supposed to be soft? I can't remember what my silk scarf felt like before I started wearing it :perplexed
