I've been deep conditioning my hair every week and yet my ends are so DRY!

I use ORS olive oil, ORS jojoba daily and they tend to alleviate the dryness for a few hours. I hardly expose my hair, so I don't understand why my ends are still dry.

Please help!! Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Hi brandy!

I've never used any of those products but I used to have the same problem. I mist my hair with distilled water before applying any oils or moisturizers to my hair. I hope this helps.

at night, i will put water on my ends and then oil, or an oil moisturizer. I have an oil mix that i made for my ends that has been working nicely too.

Oil is not a moisturizer

So applying this daily to ur ends is not gonna moisturize ur ends. Oil acts as a sealant to keep the drying elements in the air from drying up the moisture that u've applied. WATER is a moisturizer
smile.gif
. Try using water based products 1st to moisturize the hair (distilled water, or products with water (aqua) as the 1st listed ingredient). Water causes frizzies, so u may wanna add oil 2nd which will seal in the moisture & help to lay down the cuticle layer, giving a smooth finish to the strand

I'm not an expert, but this method works wonders for my hair

I use conditioner on my ends - St. Ives Vanilla and Edelweiss and THEN an oil based product - ORS Jojoba, Pure Jojoba Oil or Kemi Oyl.

This way you ADD moisture (witha ater based product), and then SEAL it in (with an oil based product). Pomades are oil based and so won't add moisture. But they help the hair HOLD moisture that's been added very well.

I only use a pea sized amount of each and I only put it on the last two to three inches of my hair.

I agree with what Peachtree said...I've found this to be true with moisturizing my own hair.
If I don't put water on my hair first, I use a water-based moisturizer like ORS Carrot Oil - the first ingredient is water. That works pretty well in moisturizing without wetting my hair first.

Hi peachtree!
Thanks for educating me! I really didnt know that oil wasn't a moisturiser

. Cheers for the info

Hi everyone thanks for the quick replies. I truely appreciate your suggestions.

I've gotten good results with jojoba oil, keracare essential oils, & wave nouveau finishing lotion.

BlackCardinal's Dry End Miracle Cure (May Be Performed on Wet or Dry Hair):
Put hair up in mid-height ponytail. Apply nickel-sized amount of Profectiv Break-Free to length of ponytail. Wait 2 minutes for it to "soak in" and decide if you need more (should be a little damp if your hair started off dry).

Rub about 3-4 drops of Hot Six Oil in palm of hand and smooth over ponytail. Listen to hair breathing a sigh of relief. Braid into a single plait. Tuck under the braid, using a scrunchie or clip or something (BlackCardinal likes using a small elastic (no metal) to do the first ponytail and then a scrunchie to tuck under braid and "finish it off" and this has become one of her favorite protective styles now that she's at school).

Go on about your bidness.

Later, when you're getting ready for bed, take down ponytail and ooh and ahh at yo' silky locks.

I have no idea why I felt the need to be so dramatic about it...but seriously, it's just what all these ladies have been saying: use a water-base moisturizer, then seal it in. For me, braiding or something afterwards seems to help it get sealed in even more. Oh, and the amounts of products may be different depending on length of hair. Mine is a smidgen past shoulder length. Hope you get it worked out
