How do I rebuild my hair?

I damaged my hair by improperly removing microbraids and glue in weaves and ended up with really, thin hair. :perplexed What products can you suggest to help build my hair?

I am 4b, relaxed, fine, kinky...I was thinking of using the Aveda Damage system.

You'll have to start a consistent regimen of conditioning and protecting your hair. The areas where hair was ripped out by glue/braid removal will need to be babied.

I suggest DC'ing twice a week, balancing protein/moisture. Here's an article about that by one of our members:

I've never used Aveda Damage Remedy but a lot of people like Aveda here and I know there are threads about it. Just make sure you keep track of how your hair is feeling so that you don't over do it on the protein/reconstructor.

You'll also want to protect your hair at night while your sleeping, either by wearing a satin/silk bonnet or scarf. During the day you'll want to wear styles that keep your ends hidden and aren't stressful on your hairline or nape area. Pinups work for me really well, either in a french roll or some type of updo. Buns require me to use a too tight ponytail and I'd need a lot more hair to make them look good.

You'll probably also want to stretch your relaxer in order to avoid damaging your already weakened hair. You can just search for that on the board.

I see that you're pretty new (welcome!), here's a thread that may be really helpful. It has the boards favorite threads and they are really helpful for newbies.

Hope this helps!
