how do I do my own weave?

I have been thinking about getting a weave for a while. I know how to cornrow and I think that's part of the who process. My question is, is it possible to put my own weave in and if so how? I need step by step instructions please. I also need to know what type of hair to get from the store.

Oh yeah, I really prefer to sew it not glue.

check out, I believe it is "dontspeakdefeat's" photo gallery.
she did her own weave and shares the photos.

I tried to look at your album but it's saying not accessible

WOWWWW!!!! DSD you did an excellent job!!!! Was this your first time doing a weave? I hope mine turn out as good as yours! You instructions were excellent too! I'm really impressed!!! (and inspired) It's only one thing I don't understand. How did you cornrow your cornrowed ends (you said after you cornrowed your ends you added a track (can you break it down for me please)?

Wow dsd it does look wonderful! I have had a sew in seave before and the stylist bradied my hair in a sort of bee hive, like in a circular motion around my head and this eliminated the braids hanging down in the back. It's a suggestion that you might like to try.

Wow! Thanks!

I just took the loose ends and braided them all together to make one big ole cornrow that went in the direction of ear to ear. I just sewed the track in after that.

I initially tried doing it that way but my mind wouldn't adjust to braiding in such a unusual fashion. I kept messing up and got frustrated and went the other route! Thanks for the suggestion though!

I am goin to try this soon, what are the best types of hair to buy, and how should I go about picking out the color

What about splitting the tracks.

Any and all sugggestions are appreciated

TIA

You have so many talents coming from the way you do your hair. I love your weave. Looks like you had it done in the salon. Very, very nice. Good job. </font>

u may also want to try clip in weave...or make your own instant weave, there is a thread called "clip-in weave"

Asummertyme, your hair looks gor-ge-ous? How many pieces did you add to your hair?

I'm thinking of doing this to my hair for my upcoming vacation but I'm not sure yet ((so inlove with my braids)).

DSD your hair looks awesome too. I think I told you this on a different thread.

This board definitely has some talented ladies.
