you can lock it as long as it is a TSA approved lock, so they can open it with a master key.

Oh, I heard a lady ask the TSA guy if she could leave her baggage there to be checked and he said, as long as your luggage is not locked your good. I overheard him tell a few people this, but maybe he didn't see TSA locks on them or something. I guess I need to quit trying to be nosy.
