Homemade products on natural hair v. Processed hair

I am an Ayurvedic junkie, so I use lots of natural powders. I use them as a tea rinse instead of shampoo most weeks of the month.

My hair also hates shea butter. Its favorite butters are Macademia nut butter and olive butter. For some unkown reason, My hair likes Dabur Vatika enriched coconut oil sooo much more than regular extra virgin coconut oil, but it likes castor and sweet almond oil the best.

I use Elucence Moisture balancing conditioner for moisturizing sealed with a butter mixture and my hair is soft every time.

I say all of this to say, not everything works for everyone, you just have to keep trying and think outside of the box.

For me, aloe gel is not very moisturizing, but aloe juice is a staple. Maybe try swapping out the gel for the juice and see how it works. I also find that jojoba is too light to do anything for me. Maybe trying some other oils will give better results.

Oh and for panthenol, check out www.organic-creations.com they have almost everything.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. Good advice. Just have to do some research. Oh and thanks for the link as well!:yep:

Thanks. You and a few other ladies hear I see had to go through trial and error to find their own personal mix. I will do the same. It is just that I hate wasting money.:nono: But I see I gotta do what I gotta do to get results.

I did not know there was a Olive Oil Butter!!!

I have a 85% natural product stash. It took lots of research but I found the right combination, you just have to research. I'm texlaxed by accident.

I make my own butter that I call "butter mix". I have been using my own product for almost 2 yrs and it works better than anything I can get at the BSS store. The downside is the ingredients are pricey so I buy in bulk and make it in large batches.

What is in your butter mix?

I tell ya, I will be GLAD when I can find my staples, because you do go broke trying to find what works, even sample paks can add up. Maybe I need to try some avacado butter, but I am so tired of purchasing ONLINE hair products. I have tried everything online from every company, so I guess that means I need to start looking in the BSS for things. S curl is the only thing that works for my natural hair. Oh well! One day I will be able to get it right LOL!!

I use mostly natural products now even though my hair is processed, but I started out with commercial products and slowly transitioned as my hair got healthier. When I first started out no oils were working for me and now I love oils. I was also using cones at first until I realized that they were keeping my hair dry. Then I started to henna and maybe thats why the way my hair responded to oils changed. Shea butter doesn't work for me either but then I haven't tried it again so it might work differently for me now!

try coconut oil for your ends, when i was permed I used that and it was good for keeping my ends moisturized. NOTHING moisturized my relaxed hair better than perfect for perms. just two finger tips of that stuff was enough every other day. I would wrap it satin scarf that bad boy and be swangin in the morning, like 2 months after having a fresh relaxer
