Hits & Misses December 2014

Hit: keracare Humecto. I was very surprised by it. Smells like candy, you don't need slot which is great for me and has good slip. I could see this being a staple.

@Holla

Just like any ol' regula' Butta'.:lick:

Please Report back!:yep:

IDareT'sHair

Ok so Day 2 of using the MHC Soy Hair Creme.

I like it for my edges. I am really impressed with how it lays down my edges! I put my hair in a bun and usually I'd slather on gel as the last step just to lay down my edges before putting on a scarf for 15 minutes. With gel, my hair will crimp up as it dries flat. With just this butter (no gel on top), my hair was flat and smooth with no major waves crimping. The hold was about 80% as good as gel - which is very good for someone like me who uses it often for hold but doesn't want hard hair. I also don't need to wash my hair if I want to put my hair in a completely different style.

For m/s....I don't like it. My hair doesn't feel as moisturized compared to when I use other products to seal. I like Oyin's BSP better for sealing and I don't even like BSP THAT much. I just use BSP because I have it now.

It feels and smells a little bit like Crisco in the tub (which I use for m/s) but way more expensive. It's also my first "butter" so this is all new to me as to how to incorporate butters into my hair. Considering that my hair hates shea butter, this is a VERY good alternative for that. :yep:

Hit: Oyin Whipped Pudding

I think a while back I got a bad pasty batch from Curl Mart. This batch from Oyin? So whipped and creamy. I must keep this in my life. I've been using it on my face and skin.

Oyin Funk Butter. Non hair related, but its been my boo thang since it artived. Favoritest deodorant EVER!

rileypak hey girl! So its this little jar of butter, smooth in texture. But i like it better with a few extra drops of jojoba oil to make it more like putty/play doh. Mine is unscented. Its beige in color and you scoop it out with your fingers. The first 2 or 3 times I used it, I was sweating like a geyser. I was gonna toss it. But ive since leveled out and all is well. No smelliness. But it doesnt disappear so I wouldnt wear it with sleeveless clothing.

IKR? It's a Winter Staple.

They discontinued it last Winter (promised to relaunch the Spring of 2014 - which they did).

However, it was a temporary re-launch, because Jenn (they) decided to discontinue it again and I convo'ed her to express my displeasure for not being made aware of their intentions to discontinue it again.

Had I known that, I would have stocked up after the 2nd re-launch.

She said they had no intentions of bringing it back, which is unfortunate, because that is basically the only thing I still purchase from Komaza.

I also like DB's Eucalyptus & Mint and am trying to resist buying some from AveYou.

The Pro with that is: AveYou sells x2 4oz for $12.00 instead of x1 for $12 like DB's.

The Original one was 4oz and smells like Peppermint which is the one I'm using now.:lick:

This one is the 8oz Jar at $13.00 (2nd reformulation).:ohwell:

IDareT'sHair

I wish I had know about their intent to discontinue and reformulate several times, because the one I have is superb. I love it and would've purchased an obscene amount of jars, but since she never responded to my email inquiry, I benched her. Since the new formulation contains palm oil, it's of no use to me because my hair hates that stuff.

Scalp Conditioner (8oz for $13)
Hemp Butter, Avocado Butter, Cocoa Butter, Castor Bean Oil, Avocado Oil, Ivy Extract, Orchid Extract, Green Tea Extract, Avena Oat Extract, Bamboo Extract, Jojoba Oil infused with Nettles, Horsetail, Rosemary, Peppermint, Comfrey, Slippery Elm, Marshmallow, Chamomile, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Panthenol, Vitamin E, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Lavender Essential Oil, Fragrance

Scalp Moisture Therapy (4oz for $8)
Avocado Butter, Cocoa Butter, Red Palm Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Ivy Extract, Orchid Extract, Avena Oat Extract, Bamboo Extract, Jojoba Oil infused with Nettles, Horsetail, Rosemary, Peppermint, Comfrey, Lavender, Chamomile, Lecithin, Panthenol, Vitamin E, Grapefruit Seed Extract

HIT! Purchasing the Tek brush from T J Max after reading about it here. It is the best brush I have ever used for my hair! Will get another one and ordered a Bass wood bristle brush to compare. Thanks LHCF

New HIT:

Blue Roze Beauty Chai Hair Tea

This stuff smells amazing...exactly like Chai Tea. I used it to prepoo and when I rinsed it out...OMG, I could feel the softness as I rinsed. I didn't even want to wash my hair afterward. I can see this being a good dc as well. This stuff is a definitely repurchase.

Continued Hits:
APB Pumpkin & Fennel Oil: Used this to prepoo along with the BRB Chai Tea. This oil is so versatile. It softens my hair on contact and adds shine. The the honey dew scent smells so good like a jolly rancher. :lick:

APB Hibiscus Fenugreek Pomade: Used this to seal after applying my leave in. Gives good shine and keeps moisture in my hair.

MEGA Hit

TEK/Widu brush - this is hands down the best detangling tool I have used to date. Best used under water while rinsing out conditioner, I absolutely love it! After rocking my hair in a flat twisted updo all week, this was the amount of hair I loss using the TEK/Widu brush in the shower:

Amazing tool that I think every kinky haired natural should try at least once.

:up:BIG HIT
Beautique Professional Straightening Brush--I bought this after reading that thread about using the brush chase method for flat ironing. I had reservations, but this is the ABSOLUTE smoothest DD's ends have ever been with a flat iron. Her hair looks super healthy. Of course I'll have to update/amend after I've tried this technique a few more times, but so far, I'm extremely happy.

Hit:
Belle Butters Whipped Shea Butter
Having enough hair in my nape now to twist with. Finally that area is growing.

Slight miss:
The look of my twist out. It's short. But my hair feels nice

On the fence
APB Ayurvedic Mud Mask. It was ok.

Continued Hit:
Darcy Botanicals Deep Conditioning Mask
Mission:Condition's Candy Hair

Potential Hit:
Soultanicals Sorrel Detangler

Hit:

Via Natural Avocado Oil - it is very moisturizing

Lottabody Texturizing Setting Lotion with coconut & shea oil - it gives my hair shine and my curls hold for days. I have to use a fine mist spray bottle to apply it to my hair

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine leave-in conditioning cream - This leave in conditioners keeps my hair moisturized without weighing down my hair and I can detangle my hair with ease.

K Organics Oyl - It is great for sealing in moisture. It is an awesome blend of oil with Olive, Soybean, Peanut, Sunflower, Mongango, Argan and Macadamia oil.

Natures Blessing Hair Pomade - it is a light hair grease with a great smell. I am back to greasing my scalp whenever I air dry my hair.

Miss: Soultanicals Knot Butta

I wanted to give this another go. I'm not really sure how to use it. First of all, it's more of a Buttercreme, but since it's full of butters and oils, I used it as a Sealent after my leave in. Well the result was dry hair.

I've used it on dry hair as a moisturizer. Greasy dry hair.

I remember when I first got it after it launched, it was more of a whipped butter. And it smelled like the Knot Sauce. But this wet texture and Cherry Almond scent is not the business. It will be going on the swap board, along with a few other things.

Hit: Mission Condition Arabian Knights Leave In
Great as a leave in and refresher on dry hair. Smells amazing.

Hit: Corrective Relaxer (Vitale Sensitive Scalp), DC with raw honey and a bunch of other stuff under hooded dryer.

Miss: Not getting my ding, dang, dong, ends trimmed. * sigh* bye-bye, length.

See, that's why I'm leery of buying things I can't find on the ground. I used to love ReVé Essentials and then they just up and quit. My feelings are still hurt from that.
