You might want to try cholesterol. Its cheap, and for me, a hour under a shower cap does the trick everytime. It leaves my hair moisturized even with my hard water problems.

Good point about cholesterol, that used to work back in the day too!!

yea - I think you may want to try all your moisturizing treatments you been using add some s-curl and baggy over night a couple nights a week. The s-curl will lock the moisture in. My hair too was extremely dry when i first came on board with lhcf and now my hair holds moisture very well using some of the same things you do. Are you co-washing a couple times a week?

okay so I used the cholesterol as a pre-poo then I used some conditioner on my hair and now I am sitting under the heat cap with an avacado, honey, humecto and EVOO mix (I think I am allergic). Then after that I am going to rollset my hair - air dry and then oil my scalp and do the baggy thing.
I really hope this works- thank you ladies!!!

How come you didnt try the ORS replenishing pak? you know the yellow packs they sell for like $1.49? It smells like straight up oranges. I usually try that after clarifying and it makes my hair very moist. I can't do it all the time tho b/c it makes my hair limp..

You used actual milk? I think I heard somewhere that milk will make your hair hard, because of the protein. I agree with the ladies that said try the baggie overnight.

i used evaporated milk w/ honey

-- i didn't know that

I have a recipe that is used to REVERSE dry hair. I have only used it once and it worked well:

Wrap hair in a steaming towel to prepare the hair.
Simmer together one cup of milk, one cup of water and dry rose petals.
Allow the mixtue to cool and pour into blender. Add a ripe avocado and 2 tsp of honey and almond paste or almond oil (without alcohol).
Blend- massage into hair, wrap in plastic and rinse after 30+ minutes.
Use this treatment with every wash for 1 month and dry hair should subside.

I also use castor oil daily. As a hot oil treatment before every wash. It seems to soften my hair well.

Using too many products can make your hair dry!!!

I agree!

That was my problem. I was loading my hair up with a water based, silicone filled moisturizer everyday and it really did more harm than good.

Whoa - I did not know to many products can make your hair dry... Thanks for the info.

CORBINS: thanks for the recipe- I think I am seriously allegric to avacado - I can't even put it on my hair - runny eyes, sneezing, itching and my neck still has a few bumps on it. (I tried a similar recipe two nights ago).

I used the baggy method and my hair is not doing to bad - I think I am going to get a regular wash and set at the salon and just stop washing my hair every other day because my hair doesn't like that anymore.

Thank you ladies for your advice and I will report back with updates by Sunday!!!

also, don't know if it was recommended but Jojoba Oil is AMAZING!!! my hair can be dry one night and after rubbing some jojoba oil through it, i wake up with soft tresses.

and...conditioner washing helped me fight dryness. traditional shampoo used to dry me out. now i conditioner wash 3 times a month and only use traditional shampoos once a month. i'm co-signing on baggying. but i'd be careful using cholesterol too often. my friend baggied with cholestrol for months and saw good benefits from it, but eventually her hair was so dried out from it that she's still recovering. baggy using good conditioners and jojoba oil.

The same exact thing happend to me as well and I used Elasta QP recovery oil moisturizer along with their deep conditioner DPr 11. Trust me, the Recovery oil worked serious wonders on my hair, taking me from super dry brittle hair to soft, silky and shiny. I challenge you to at least try it after a few CO-washes and see what happens. Use it on DRY hair after the 3rd or 4th CO-wash; that's what I did and it worked!!

Thanks MP- I am going to get the recovery oil misturizer today- I don't think I am going to co-wash anymore- I am serious afraid of it now!!! my hair looks so bad I need to go to get a wash and set at the Dominican's.

I am still struggling w/ my desert dry hair from an underprocessed relaxer in August. I've also tried everything. What is helping is I started taking my flaxseed oil again.

Also, Elasta QP Recovery Oil is great after my daily CW. I notice Scurl seemed to make my hair seem more dry so I stopped using it. I've been using SE Moisturizing Treatment as my daily CW because there doesn't seem to be anything else besides ORS Replenishing Pak (that I use as a weekly treatment) that can break through the dryness and make my hair soft again. I'm not sure what SE Moisturizing treatment will do to my hair in the long run since I use it everyday. But at this point I have no choice.

Qhement Biologics Amla & Olive Oil heavy cream is an excellent cream for moisture. It's very heavy though so I just use it at night.

Good luck, if you find out any other products that are breaking the dry spell pls post it.

What does the SE stand for in the SE moisturizing treatment?
