I coat my previously permed hair with a protectant before relaxing. Porosity control is good for this. Also using silk amino acids provides a barrier. The next time I'll combine porostiy control w/ Chi silk infusion to protect my hair.
I also relax in 2 sections to give myslef(well actually mh Dh more time).
You could also try relaxing them every other relaxer until they are strong again. When I had post partum shedding and my edges thinned out, I didn't relax them every time, just every other touch up. Hope this helps.
I relaxed them last after I was done doing my whole head. And I only relaxed the front. The nape I will leave for every other time that I relax and do that last as well. Since I am texlaxed and not fully relaxed I dont need my edges to be perfectly straight.
