hmmmm maybe you should go to the shop just to have that documented that you attempted to resolve the situation. see what the stylist says, the more you have against her the better.

maybe even go cause a scene (no attacks) call the cops then you can have a report with what happened to your hair and a police report.

or maybe you'll go to her and she will see what she did and just give you your money back.

I normally do both consumer complaint and bbb, sometimes the bbb can't help if the person your complaining about keeps saying they didn't do anything wrong.

I am not a person to speak in anger, but if I were you, I would go there today and have it documented by her. The longer you wait, the easier I think it will be for her to try to negate your claim.

Well, I wound up getting a full refund. I called the school she went to for cosmetology and asked what the specific laws were to protect consumers. Well, the lady asked who was she was and I gave her the name of the stylist who mutilated my hair. So I guess they called and asked about her license because my cousin then calls and says the girl wanted to know why I didn't call to talk about the situation with her like "a real woman." I reminded my cousin that I sent her a text this morning telling her that I just wanted a refund because there was nothing she could do to fix my hair at that point. My cousin said that she was basically trying to say that she didn't do anything wrong....

So the girl's mother calls me back asking what happened, so I explained to her in detail the situation, and how I wanted my refund and that was all. She asked me how long it would take for me to get to their shop, and I told her I was almost to their part of town.

I get to the shop and the girl who did my hair was outside in her car when I pulled up. I went inside to show her mother the damage. She had all the proof she needed. She called her daughter in to give me my money... and the chick couldn't even look me in the face. But oh well, at LEAST I have my money back.

I decided to keep the twists in for a few more weeks. I'm not ready to deal with the complete devastation just yet.

oh girl, i'm so sorry! yea i would definately take pictures, pictures, and more pics. definitely have your friend video it. i would leave them in and go to see her and have someone video her while SHE was taking them down. catch her reactions and all!!! then ask how is she going to handle it? because she can clearly see that it was her doing and can't say that your hair was already like that. believe me some will try, but since it's on video...... MahoganyJazz I'm so sorry this happened to you. I learned the hard way I just can't let anyone BUT me do my hair. I only go in maybe every two or three years for a haircut. Not a trim but a cut.
Before going natural...
-stylist would repeatly overlap relaxer.
-cut instead of trim my ends
-I sued and won against a shop because the hairdresser left me with first and second degree burns on my scalp and forehead. It took almost a year for the brown color on my forehead to return and my scalp is still damaged at the top of my head ten years later.

After going natural.....
-Braider braided my hair so tight that I lost the thickness and health of my edges.
-Another braider cut the stray hairs along each braid. After taking braids down, hair was jacked. Lost some thickness.
I have even seen braiders take a lighter and run it up and down the braids to get the fly aways. And you can smell human hair burning!!!!!
My husband asked me one day, " why do you keep doing this to yourself"? Ever since that question I just started doing my own hair.

I agree! That's the main reason I sued. It wasn't the fact that I kept telling her it was burning, it wasn't the fact that brown skin was missing from my forehead and there was red flesh exposed.
It was her not apologizing. It was her telling me to calm down in a nasty tone when I wasn't even going yelling or going off. It was her acting like it was no big deal.

Well, I took my twists out this past weekend, and got my hair cut last night. I retained the most length in the back, but she butchered my sides and crown area. I had to get layers throughout those areas to blend the chopped parts in. I also lost a lot of thickness as well... -sigh- Thank God it isn't as big of a set back as I was thinking it would be.

I fell your pain. Everytime my hair has been ruined it was by the hands of a braider that apparently didn't have knowledge about hair. My first bad experience was years ago when I had a braider put micro braids in my hair with synthetic hair, it was beautiful, she had also went down each braid with scissors. I wore these braids for several months and boy when I took them out my hair was so uneven that I had to cut 7-10 inches off. Then last year had a hair weave put in for $750 that was to tight and thinned out my hair tremendously. Then in Oct 09 had kinky twist put in, some of those twist I believe was to heavy because some of them actually twist out of my head. I had alot of bald spots and very thin hair. So now I am wearing a full weave that I did myself and I know for sure that my hair is going to grow out without any set backs.

The last time I got kinky twists, I took those $160 things out in like 2 weeks because they were pulling two tight on my scalp and I didn't want to end up with any bald spots.

I bought a wig, but it didn't look right on me... It's very cute though. I'm thinking about getting a sew in next. I must let my hair rest to retain more length, and now thickness as well.

I went and got my hair braided last week and the woman did the same thing to me, cutting off strands that were sticking out. Mind you, I just did a BC so my hair is no longer than 2 inches. Therefore, my hair was sticking out of a lot of braids. So as she neared the top to continue snip, snipping, I told her, "No more. Put the scissors down". She said to me, "well your hair is no good" I said, "Your hair is no good, that's why you wearing that tacky wig" I mean, it was an all out war, all over my hair. I've realized that I can't go to Joe Blow and get my hair done anymore. I would do that back when and I had a lot of hair problems as a result. I stick to who and what I know. The one woman who braids my hair (and it took me years to find her) does a perfect job. She doesn't braid tight and she never snips off any hair. Don't ask me why I didn't go to her that particular day, but I learned my lesson. Please update us on what happens.
