You're right but I DO hope this helped you realize that it was intentional IMHO. If you can, can you might need to make a video of this incident.

My friend is going to video me taking them all down, and we're going to take shots of each twist. Then I will get a written statement from my regular hairstylist. I'm also going to document how much she had to cut to rectify the damage, as well as the price.

Either way, my hair is ruined, and SHE did it.

ETA, notice in the first pic of chopped hair. It even looks like it was precisely cut across. You can tell it isn't breakage because it's too even.

Not ONLY that but its a HUGE lock too.
I hope she wasn't taking out any anger on you from what was done to her.

I got my hair done in kinky twists over a week ago and they looked very neat and well done. I've been getting compliments on them every day. So last night I decided to wash and condition my hair. After doing so I notice that my real hair is sticking up weirdly. I untwist one, and low and behold a 5-6 inch clump of my hair falls out. I do a few more and the same thing happens. I immediately text the girl to call me. After she does, I tell her the situation and she says she wants me to come back to her shop and see what's going on.... Ok, that's fine.

As the night progresses into morning, I wake up angrier than I was before I went to sleep. I text the girl and tell her I want a full refund... She texts back saying she doesn't give refunds, and I should just come to her shop to show if my hair was cut, like "I said it is."

Mind you, when she got done doing my hair she went over each twist and snipped the excess weave that was sticking up off. I understand that it could've been done accidentally, but to not give me my money back? Are you out your mind? My whole purpose for getting them was to give my hair a break from heat and chemicals. Not to get my hair chopped off.... which, BTW I now have to invest in a major haircut.

I'm going to file a claim this evening in court when I get off work. I know if I got to her shop to show her anything I'll be leaving in handcuffs for choking her out.... :wallbash:

Please pray for my strength yall. I will show before and after pics once all of them are down.
OMG that is so messed up. I hope you can get some justice cuz that it just 100 levels of wrong right there. ((((((HUGS))))

I never seen them done and I never had them myself so maybe I cant talk but ... why didnt she snip along the SIDES of the twist as opposed to INTO the twist? :perplexed

Maybe Im seeing this all wrong. :nono:

I hear you.... I have had stylists deliberately mess my hair up BAD. That's why I'm a dedicated DIYer. I just won't take the risk. And my hair was only SL when the girl messed it up so bad that I had to hack it down to a cut like a man's. Imagine if I went in there NOW? I was having a weak moment last week and thinking of going to a shop to get a sew-in... thank god I snapped out of it, I could have walked out with a ceasar. :nono:

Awesome plan of action. Please keep us updated.

She is going to wish that she would have refunded you...I guess she thinks that you are one of those sisters that just "lets things slide"....I am mad for you...MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF HER!!!!

Maybe if u raise enough h*** - maybe her license will be suspended....

Oh my!! How terrible! I would take a lot of pictures as well, for future evidence and document everything that she says.

Keep a tape recorder in your pocket or let your camera/phone take video (only for sound use) when you talk to her.

Is that...I hope that's legal :look:

I'm going to wait a few days before I go to her shop. I don't want to say anything out of anger that will mess my case up.

Lesson #1 when getting any sort of braid never make them snip flyaway let them use the moose to make everything neat.

when i had corn rows i make sure tell them put that scissors down i dont play them games then your hair comes out all uneven.

Sue them yes take your pics

OP sorry about what happened.

Ladies - I have said this before in other braid threads - there is absolutely no need for a professional braider to go snipping off flyaways. If the braider is good there will be no or very few flyaways. Please do not let them do this to your hair.

In all my years of living in Kenya and whenever I go back home and get my hair braided, the braiders do not do that scrazy snipping. The braids are always super neat and any flyaways are minmal and if you really want to smooth them off with a tad of serum. (I think Nonie can corroborate my story)
I only experienced that the few times I braided here in Europe and when they tried to do it I stopped them really quick.

Please do not let them snip or burn or whatever.

WOW!!!!

How long are your twists?

I'm thinking that she cut with the 'tips' of the scissors into the twists rather than with the 'blades' along the twists - so if any of your hair was wrapped on the 'outside' of the twisthair, when she cut with the tips, it would cut right through the segment of hair that was exposed. :nono:

That's ridiculous, and I'd suspect it was somewhat intentional, too. As long as your hair is? She should have been HYPERAWARE that she might be cutting yours as she 'cleaned up' the twists. :nono:

I'm suing for the full $1500 in small claims court. Since you can't put a price on hair, I want the full amount allowable.

My twists are as long as my hair. Matter of fact, some of my hair extends past the end of the weave, that's why I asked her not to cut the tips of the twists.

I'm just..... sick. :perplexed

I went and got my hair braided last week and the woman did the same thing to me, cutting off strands that were sticking out. Mind you, I just did a BC so my hair is no longer than 2 inches. Therefore, my hair was sticking out of a lot of braids. So as she neared the top to continue snip, snipping, I told her, "No more. Put the scissors down". She said to me, "well your hair is no good" I said, "Your hair is no good, that's why you wearing that tacky wig" I mean, it was an all out war, all over my hair. I've realized that I can't go to Joe Blow and get my hair done anymore. I would do that back when and I had a lot of hair problems as a result. I stick to who and what I know. The one woman who braids my hair (and it took me years to find her) does a perfect job. She doesn't braid tight and she never snips off any hair. Don't ask me why I didn't go to her that particular day, but I learned my lesson. Please update us on what happens.

Wow, OP, I'm so sorry. All the best with getting justice on this. It boggles the mind how careless hairstylists are. Besides the fact that I have little patience to do anyone's hair but mine, I shudder at the liability that it entails and that alone is enough to scare me away. So if I were a stylist, I'd watch my P's and Q's just because you never know when you can be blamed for a mistake that might not have been your doing. So that a stylist would be clumsy as to not watch what she's doing when working on a long haired chick that just walked into her salon, just makes my head spin,...then makes me very angry. Like WTFing F??? Am I the only one that stares with silent reverence at long hair? I'd be doing that hair as if Secret Service were scrutinizing my work.

I've got $6.43 and a metrocard in my pocket right now. I am johnny-on-the-spot with the bail money. :lachen:

Or... I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who could make a certain problematic hair stylist stop being so problematic :sekret:

I'm not able to view the pictures, but either way...the story itself was ENOUGH. I have NEVER gotten down with that 'snip the braid (to the side or otherwise) to make it neater' crap. When I braid my own hair or others, I moisturize the hair itself as I go and concentrate on the ends as they tend to not want to mesh (I also braid tighter at this point). Does it take additional time? Yes , it does...all of 3 seconds each braid...I know...years lost off your life right (rolls eyes), but for me, this eliminates the "need" to cut in the end. Stylist say "snipping" like it's something different...miss me with that. It. Is. Cutting. PERIOD. Public service announcement::: There is NO NEED to have to "clean up a braid" if you braid it right in the first place.

Reading through the post, it seems as if you are well aware of what is required (as far as documenting your case)...so with that...go forth. Even though I am well aware no amount of money can replace what was lost, I sincerely hope that you are awarded the maximum you can receive.

I am so sorry. I understand. This is why I have wholly given up on stylists... I freak out over cornrows.
A good braider does not leave any hair out..... and - I have braided my own hair - without hair sticking out. I truly beleive these people do not have a clue - and they have jealousy issues. I just flat ironed my hair - and - I will not let ANY person touch my hair at all. I have a freind that I have known for 21 years.... and she is the only person I can trust to cornrow... beyond that.... The standard answer to many of my associates who have "a great stylist" is NO THANKS......
I am recovering from braider setbacks ( from AUGUST 2008) as well... so again - I understand....

:nono:OMG...I am sooooo sorry this happened to you. She ought to be ashame of herself to not even give you a partial refund. She is so unprofessional and you should report her to BBB and any other site available to eport people like her. Good luck to you sis!:hug3:

This is a mess! OP I'm sorry this happened to you and I hope you get justice.

But I do want to say- Ladies- We're all on this board for a common goal- to have healthy hair. I urge you to take your hair into your own hands. When I was relaxed- I learned to self-relax, when I didnt like how the dominicans doing my rollersets with their rat-tooth combs- I learned how to roller-set my own hair. I taught myself to do my own braids cause I didn't like how tight the braiders were. When I went natural I got my best friend to do my big chop. I do not go to salons because months and years of progress can be ruined in just 1 visit.

Ladies if its a challenge to take charge of your hair please get people you trust and learn whats right/wrong so you can speak up for yourselves when you are at these shops.

I say this because these stories are just frustrating and I've been there before.

oh my, sooooo sorry, and I feel your anger, it's such a shame that we cannot find any competent people to do our hair anymore it just sucks!

she probably did chop off some of your hair being reckless and trying to be speedy.

I remember when I got cornrows the women knotted my ends instead of using rubber bands, she treated my real hair like synthetic hair! so I feel your pain.

and yeah don't even go to her shop because most likely she'll say something stank and you will end up in chanel bracelets.

and then don't you hate when people try to act like your making stuff up, like let me see your hair I don't believe you.

file your suit! everytime I try to think not all stylists are bad you hear another horror story. if it's not bad attitudes, service, cleanliness of their establishment it's something.

So sorry...This has happened before to my Sis and I ...The exact same way...The lady that braids our hair would go over each braid with scissors ..When we took down our hair it was a hot mess...

I think its great you are filing a case...Good for you...

OP, I am soooo sorry this happened to you! I'd be on TEN! I too have some bail money for you!
Question, if you don't go to the shop today, will that work against you in court?

I am so sorry this happened to you mahogany. I remember those braiding days all to well. That is why i will never go to a braider, now that I am serious about my hair care. I have had it all done to me and by different people. I have had the snipping of lots of hair (aka cutting) I have had them not braid all they way past my hair (even though I asked them too), so my hair got glued, knotted, and burned along with the weave. So of course when I took the braids out, I lost hair. But back then even though I wasn't happy about it, I didn't care too too much. But now.... it's just best I not take any chances. And good for you, for filing suit. :yep:

also do consumer a complaint.
I normally do both consumer complaint and bbb, sometimes the bbb can't help if the person your complaining about keeps saying they didn't do anything wrong.

it will work out and with a lawsuit that will definitely work. is your hair still coming out?

I just filed a complaint through the BBB.
