I was checking out the boards last night and found lots of entries about the Phibbs 514 dryer and thoughts about steaming - so today I tracked down a Sally's quick order catologue and ordered the dryer and the steamer - I guess these will be early xmas presents to myself.

Am I going to far? Or were they good investments?

Wowzers!! I can't really answer this for you. Do YOU feel it was a little much or is this something you really needed. If you are going to use things religiously I don't see why not (as long as you have the cash for it of course) :) When do you recieve the goods?

I think so - I have been really committed to washing/dc, etc. every 3 days since I started in May and so far so good. The money I am saving from going to the beauty salon and/or braider I am using to buy products and equipment.

  yep they are considered my goods now and I will keep u posted

You know I personally dont cap myself when it comes to the health of my hair. I hope you enjoy your goods. You will be so pleased with the results of your steamer. I use it on average every two weeks for my treatments and I feel my hair has thrived from it. Kudos to ya for making the investment in something you are serious to and dedicated about. What a blessing for you to be in a financial position to purchase both!

Thank you - When u r under ur steamer do u also wear a plastic cap or do u keep ur hair loose?

I wrap my hair around my head and secure it with plastic clips. Your hair benefits from the direct steam contact. The moist heat opens your cuticles and allows the treatment to penetrate deeper and stick to you cortex. Be sure not to use any metal pins under the steamer, it will get too hot and adversely affect your hair.

Thanks out I go next week to purchase plastic clips, lol:)

I think you made an excellent investment. I won a used Pibbs 514 on Ebay last week and am waiting anxiously for it to arrive.

Enjoy! I too don't hesistate to spend good money on quality products for my hair. I want to get a steamer eventually, when the hubby and I start working but for now I have to use my towel turbin that has been run under hot water and microwaved.....LOL

I think you made two great investments. I also have the Pibbs 514 dryer from Sally's. In the 7 months that I've had it, the saving over going to the salon are priceless.

The streamer sounds like a great idea also...I'll have to check into that next.

Enjoy, enjoy! I know it will pay for itself down the line since you don't go to the salon. I don't think you went to far, personally when I move I would like to have a beauty room, I'm talking shampoo bowl, chair, carts, and etc. the works just to make my hair days go smoother.

Great Investment! I have a Pibbs Quik Dry that I ordered from Sally's as well, I have already broke even in terms of the price/visits to the beauty salon. I only go for relaxers which is every 2 months, but I wash my hair on average every three to four days.

how much was the steamer?

That's funny I was eyeing the salon chairs in the Sally's catologue like hmmm maybe this could fit in my laundry room, lol:grin:

Yes, this is the same why I ordered my Pibbs dryer.
