This thread and some of the others have definetely helped me with typing my hair. I think awhile ago, I guessed that I was a 3b/c. I'm now pretty sure that I am a 3c/4a and that is using the chart posted on naturallycurly's site
.

Kha, I think you were right stating that your hair was 3b/c. I'm 4a with a little 3c and your curl pattern is more defined than my curl pattern (my new growth).

I've classified my hair as 3 b/c. I'll know for sure once I'm done transitioning. I have pics of my new growth in my album.

Yes, Tai you def. look like you called it. That pic (#15) of your newgrowth with the texturized hair is a great texture diff. pic. Did you take it yourself?

I still can't tell if I'm more of a 4a of 4b, I don't think I'll know for sure until I BC.

You hit the nail right on the head. The BC is the ultimate test.

IMO I do think you can tell the difference between a 3 and 4 curl pattern without the BC.

Looks like 3bc to me. Nice hair.

I agree. LadyCapri, in comparison to Tai's curl pattern I definitely think you are a 4a/b.
I hope that helps, I know how confusing the hair types can be.
Now I am really not sure what my hair type is. I was always told I was a 3 something. I never considered that the medication I was on really changed my texture. I am so confused.
If the women wants to be a 3 let her. What difference does it make? In the end, no matter what your "type" it is all about what works for you. Just because you have the same "type" of hair doesn't mean you can use the same routine. That is the problem with pointless categories and labels, they divide.

Kha, our hair does look pretty similar. I can't wait until our October meeting, either. We have all the hair types represented there.
Hair typing can be a complicated thing. Some people appear to classify based on the curl size and hair appearance and some appear to classify by the way their hair feels. Then some appear to classify based on their hair after relaxing or texturizing. What type you consider yourself has a lot to do with what criteria you used to determine your hair type.
I classify my hair according to the new growth as well. My hair isn't has thick as the 4A listed, but I still identified most with her.
DSD: Yeah, I guess you're right. My front, sides and kitchen area are more 3C. That's why I perm those areas last. Thanks. So I guess I need to change my Hair type in my signature.
Cleo: Your hair is gorgeous.
I've never seen your pics.
Tai: Your natural hair is beautiful! You're transitioning nicely.
I guess you won't be needing that Affirm relaxer after all. What are you going to do with it?
It's sad because the relaxer is just sitting there. My mom wants me to use it on her but I'm forcing her to transition (her hair is so thin it's invisible). Since I relax & texturize other people, I'll either use it on them or I might bring it to trade at our next meeting.
I think that is a good pic of 4b at least it looks like the parts of my hair that I call 4b. Before that pic I hadn't seen a real (IMO) 4b pic posted as 4b, except for Jainygirl.
I was looking through the hair albums thread. Can anyone help me out with the hairtypes of these particular ladies? (I hope these ladies don't mind me using them as examples. Their albums were posted before so it seemed ok to reference them.
