Here is a listing of common hairtypes on this board using real members as examples. These are all approx. and some may have a mix, but this is a good guideline for all who may be wondering about where they fall in the whole hairtype thing.

Hairlove is a 3B http://www.fotki.com/hairlove/

Ayeshia is a 3C http://www.fotki.com/ayeshia/

This is soooo helpful Ms. Kenesha. I think I've been wrongly classifying myself as a 4a when my hair looks just like Ayeshia's. Thanks!
 
This thread and some of the others have definetely helped me with typing my hair. I think awhile ago, I guessed that I was a 3b/c. I'm now pretty sure that I am a 3c/4a and that is using the chart posted on naturallycurly's site

I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds but from looking at your pics, you appear to be a type 4 though I can't tell whether you are mostly type 4a or 4b.

That's what I was thinking. It definately looks like 4a/b. I have 4a in some spots and your hair looks a lot like mine in that area.

I really don't think that your hair looks like 4a/b at all. Now, that is just my opinion and you know your hair better than anyone else. I would guess 3b/c but I could be wrong. I am going with 3b for me.

Heeeee! This is such a good idea! Now instead of saying I am 3b/c with a 2 inch chunk of 4a in the front, I can just say I'm mostly an ayeshia, with some hairlove on the sides and a two inch chunk of N4U2LM in the front! I love it! Plus the visuals really send it over the edge.

Oh I also want to ask if when you say 3b you are referring to your hair type after relaxing or before relaxing? I was looking at your new growth.

I agree with that prolly being 4a/b type. And there's nothing wrong with not having hair the same texture as hairlove's. It just means it's different

I never thought of that, I wanna know too because on the texturizing thread some people said they go by their texturized hairtype.
 
This is not directed at any one person but amongst having wonderful examples there is still confusion.

Khalessta, I don't mean to call you out or anything but I think you had it classified right the first time. I put you in the 3b category the first time I saw your beautiful head of hair.

@Kitchen-tician, I have seen your hair in person and it looks like you have a lot of 3c in there.

Yes it is different. My hair is not like hairlove's (never said it was). No two people's hair is exactly alike. You have a right to your opinion.

i agree. i said this on another thread. your hair looks like 4A to me as well. the curl pattern is much tighter than 3b hair.
