I think your warning is justified. False advertising is a real you-know-what, and upon re-reading your initial post, I'm thinking maybe it'd be "safer" to get something that isn't a cheapie, but is good. I just found it hilarious that I hadn't read this thread until today when I went to that site to check on the steamer, and saw your post, and noticed that they had changed the description on the thing AND lowered the price.

I guess $268 isn't so bad a price, but the other selling point about the cheaper steamer is that the company is based in Delray Beach, FL, and I live in Miami, so the shipping time would be minimal.

I'm gonna think about this for a minute, though. Thanks again for the heads-up.

Steamer on sale

Based on the recommendations of the board, I just purchased this hair steamer one day ago.

http://www.beautybeautyusa.com/hs1.htm

at http://www.beautybeautyusa.com from someone by the name of Michelle Liu (I hope she got my order right). But - she said that this was on sale for $190. With shipping, it came to a total of about $199. I thought I saw prices for about $268

Someone out there might save a little money if interested ...

Re: Steamer on sale

Thanks for sharing. Please let me know how it works out for you. I'm still in the valley of decision.

Re: Steamer on sale

Wow, this is the first I have heard about hair steamers. I have a showerhead that has a steam setting on it, and absolutely love it in for showers. It is so relaxing and stimulating at the same time. I never considered it for my hair, but after reading all these notes, will give that a try with a conditioner. Will post results in a few days (due at the hairdresser soon, so no washing hair for me for a few days). If it works well, this would be a much less expensive alternative to the prices I have seen here. Here's hoping!

I'd never heard of a hair steamer either (I've never been to a salon

). Sounds nice

Ooooh girl that showerhead sounds nice too. Although I'd probably never come out of the shower

Titansgirl,I wish my Y had a steamroom! You're lucky.

I remember I used to hate steam before I learned that moisture=softness for hair.

Nova, you are right! I've heard many testimonies on the Jheri Curl. Back in the day, poeple thought it waas the culr itself. But it was the combo of the activator/conditioner and the airdying!!

You can always go to a salon that has them and get the special treatment.

JC charges $10.00 for the service. I figure if I do it at home 2x's a week it will pay for itself in no time.

Someone is selling hair steamers on eBay right now.

Thanks for sharing....that looks like the one Musfusa (sp) had the problem with?

Edited to add
I did a search on that site and came up with some more. Thanks again Sassy, I keep forgetting about ebay.

OK, noone ever said if you can get the same results from a moist towel under the hooded dryer. With 2 kids, tuition, car note and other essentials, there's got to be a cheaper way!
Right?

Bee - I was wondering (on the other steamer thread) if there is a way to make a homemade steamer. I thought maybe sitting on the side in my shower with the shower curtains drawn, running the hottest water might work. Or finding a way to use my Caruso for this purpose.
