"Hair" old wives tales...

I was told... never flush your hair in the toilet. This will cause breakage:perplexed. you should place your hair inside the pot of a plant. Your hair and the plant should grow faster. (A woman from the VI- not sure which Island, told me this). She says that's what she does and she had MBL hair.

It's a gamble when it comes to pregnant women. Some will grow your hair and some will cause it to fall out.

GULP :perplexed...........................wont't be doing that anymore.

the 1st one that comes to mind is that you must burn any hair that you loss in a comb or brush or someone could put some voodoo on you...

I don't know about the voodoo part, but my cousin would burn her hair from her comb/brush, crumple it up then mix it into her pomades. she always had a healthy, full head of hair.

My grandmother, told me if hair come out in the comb to burying it. So when it rain your hair would grow faster, also she would let the youngest person play in her hair because the hair grows as the child grow.

My grandmother, ... she would let the youngest person play in her hair because the hair grows as the child grow.

There might be something to this one. my hair right now is the longest it has ever been. I have kids and my DD plays in it all of the time.

Mine are similar to some of yours. My mother told me:

If a bird finds a piece of your hair and makes a nest with it, your hair will fall out. She used to burn all hair that came out in combs and brushes. To this day, I hate that smell.

If a pregnant woman (pregnant with a girl) cuts your hair it won't grow. ETA: Her baby would get your growth.

Don't cut your hair while you're pregnant. It won't grow back the same if you do.

Don't wash your hair for three months after having a baby (WTF? Whatever, man).

Don't wash your hair if you have a cold.

Going outside with wet hair in the winter will make you catch a cold.

This one is morbid:ohwell:

My grandma would never let me and my cousin work on her hair at the same time. As little kids we would love to play in her hair. She'd say it was bad luck, and that the youngest of the three would die. To this day you bet my simple self will not let 2 people work on my hair at the same time:nono:.

My granny says thhis one...but she puts it like this... too many cooks in the kitche will spoil the meal...so me and my sis could not both play in her hair...but who got to...it.was always ME!
And like ak1209 said...my granny would also tell me go sit a big pot outside to collect the rain and then wash and rinse my hair so it'll go faster.
