Definitely take some time to decide what you want to do. Don't make an emotional decision! I certainly understand what you mean about being sick of the buns and not feeling pretty anymore (I have another year of that, I think). I do want to say to think a lot about what caused you to transition in the first place. You've done this for over a year so I would hate for you to regret your decision either way. However, I do support whatever decision you make. But I say to give yourself another whole week. Write down the pros and cons. Write down how you plan to wear your hair once it's natural and it will not look like a gheri curl!! Just get your thoughts down on paper before making a decision.

I'm with model_chick, too. I sometimes miss my silky straight hair but I know I can get that temporarily by flat ironing. Have you tried braidouts or twistouts so you can wear your hair down occasionally?

Good luck!

Hey ladies! /images/graemlins/wave.gif Thanks SO much for all of the encouragement! That's why I love this forum!!! I wasn't able to come back on until today b/c I was in trial all day yesterday, but after the trial (I won, BTW /images/graemlins/grin.gif ), one of my black jurors (there were 3 black women) came up to me and told me that they LOVED my hair, and that they thought it looked very pretty, neat, and professional! She also said that she decided to go ahead and transition from looking at my hair! I was SOOO happy! She hadn't relaxed in 4 months and was sporting braids, and she said that seeing my wavy bun really helped her make her decision! Thanks again for all the encouragement ladies, I am going to change hair styles and stick it out a little longer! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh, YAY! 6" is a long way to come...stay encouraged /images/graemlins/smile.gif. Congrats on the trial, too!

That is great to hear Ayanapooh. Believe me, I feel what you're saying. Transitioning is a pain in the butt....but I am anxious to get to cutting.

Just on a side note....noone should assume that white folks prefer relaxed hair. So far with my transition, I haven't gotten one negative response from ANY white person I work with. I think as long as your hair is neat and not in an outrageous style, they don't care half as much as we think they do.

In anycase Ayanna, that is the great thing about LHCF, you have support all the time for anyway you want to wear your hair /images/graemlins/grin.gif

OMG nurse this is too true. If anything they compliment me more thatn black people do. Even my two of my male professors told me how "cool"my hair was, and they are old men /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank you for that side note!!!!! Why are we always so worried about what white folks SUPPOSEDLY think about natural hair? Most white men don't even know the difference!!!

If you wanna relax, go for it! If you want to stay natural, go for it! But this whole thing about needing to relax to be accepted in white America is such a cop out and just one of those myths we black women wrongly believe and then cause ourselves undue stress about it!

Back on topic... Ayanapooh, just chiming in with my support.
