Grey: rinse or color?

For the women who are graying, Do you apply semi rinses or do you permanent color. i am approaching 45 and the grays around the edges are coming in like a vengeance. I have a few strands also throughout my hair. My hair is past brastrap and I am not ready for long gray strands of hair. I have never colored my hair but I'm thinking about it.

I do henna glosses as I found dye weakened and broke my hair off. I have these wonderful streaks of auburn running through my head, esp in the front where I have a patch of gray, ala Bonnie Raitt. It's all red. The best part is it really complements my skin tone by bringing out a reddish undertone. Henna-ing the hair is also helping me to come to grips psychologically with the change. I'm really starting to forget what my former self looked like.

I've had to resort to permanent dye also. I tried indigo and the work was just too much. I don't have time to sit with that stuff in my hair for hours and the smell was a bit much too. I am about 45-50% grey which means my roots come in with a lot of white showing, I can camouflage in the front but parting anywhere else is just a dead giveaway, so I use Revlon color silk because I love the condish that comes with the box. I used to use bigen but that little pot of dye won't even color the front of my hair let alone my whole head.

I second demicolor. I had my first application done back in February which isn't very long ago but I cleanse or CW daily. The color transfer is more like using henna, it doesn't lighten your hair but it deposits enough color to camouflage the grays. Its time to color again.

I use Adore semi permanent in Darkest Brown on my mother's relaxed BSB hair. Her hair is too fragile for permanent. The above comments on demis are making me want to try those next time since the Adore fades in 4 weeks on her greys.
