Will Using Porosity Corrector Before a Color Make it Last Longer?

I have grey and use henna/indigo occasionally and maintain that with regular cellophane rinses that have dark color deposits. But the rinses don't last long. Yesterday, for the first time, I bought Ion Color Brilliance Semi Permanent Blackest Black.

After reading a few threads, other ladies have complained that their semi-perm colors have not lasted either. I have a theory. If I use a porosity corrector before applying the color, will the color will last longer, because I've prepped the strands to absorb the hair? What do you think?
