Yes I use grease.

But of late I have gone old school. I was looking for something to use in my daughters hair-her hair absorbs grease and her ends always looked dry. I was tired of using all the crazy stuff I use in my hair in her hair. Her hair is virgin. Her Aunt suggested I use vaseline and a little olive oil. I tried it and really like it. Now I use it in mine. :)

I love my grease! Doo Gro Medicated Hair Revitalizer is my staple! I’m also looking into another grease I spotted that contains no petrolatum and has all the essential conditioners, oils, and such in it. I can’t think of the name, but it made by Wondergro.

When I first came to this board I fell into the whole “grease is bad” hype and stopped using it. Once I did that my scalp became flaky and dry. The only thing that I could think of that was causing my scalp to flake was cutting out grease so I started using it again and my hair began to do so much better. You have to do what’s best for YOUR hair!

I don't usually grease my scalp, but I found a grease called Myhoneychild Sophia's Old Fashioned Hair Grease and I LOVE it!! I use the grease mainly on my hair but it works pretty well on my scalp too. The grease has all natural ingredients that aren't heavy, so I don't worry too much about buildup and the scent is wonderful!!!

I have used dax's supergro, lanolin, green, african sage, light (Blue). I have tried other brands like always and kuza indian hemps but they were too thick and heavy. I always end up going back old school to my beloved dax. :)

I have never greased my scalp and I never will, but I do put grease on my hair from time to time when it seems to need it. My scalp needs air! :)

I use Wild Growth, Lotion #9 and carrot oil, but mainly on my hair.

4a/4b
generic Humectress
Aphogee treatment, poo, reconstructor, keratin & green tea
Profectiv relaxer, breakfree, megamoisture
Loreal Mermade, WGO
Christmas Stretch Challenge

I haven't greased my scalp in years. I put jojoba oil on NTM on my hair, mostly on the ends. When I used to grease my scalp a lot of hair would come out when I would comb it no matter how small an amount of grease I used.

I have to put grease on my scalp or my hair will start shedding. I love B & B Super Gro and Nature's Blessing Hair Pomade. My scalp loves it. I put Jamaincan Black Castor Oil and Shea Butter on my hair to condition the ends. Then I'm good to go.

nope. i used to when i had a relaxer and my head was always itchy because of it. since going natural i figured out my scalp produces enough oil on it's own. my scalp doesn't get dry or flaky either.

For those who don't grease your scalp. Do your scalp get dry and flaky without anything on it?

I used to be a faithful greaser before LHCF. My scalp did a 180 turn when I added a conditioner wash to my weekly routine. When it started to flake after about 4 days I just did a CW. I haven't greased my scalp in over a year. I do use shea butter on my hair everyday.

When I was growing up I use to get my hair pressed. I would grease my scalp twice a week, and still when I went back to the hair stylist she would complain about all the dandruff I had. In 2004 I stopped greasing my scalp and started rinsing my hair everyday with plain water and I would massage my scalp also. My hair did a 360 I know longer have the bad dandruff problem that I use to.

Yea, if i wanted to set my scalp on fire. My scalp is really sensitive and anything i put on my scalp it burns and itches after 2 days. I used to maybe like 8yrs ago. Now i just drink plenty of water, take my daily vite, and wash my scalp 1x week and i don't have any dandruff issues. well maybe during te winter, i'll have issues but then i'll do either the mizani scalp treatment or the UBH conditioner. they have that tingly effect that takes care of it. but anyways i think if anyone wanted to free themselves of dandruff and using scalp oils. try drinking like 3 30oz glasses of water a day and your scalp will get used to it and adjust.

ITA, water has done wonders for me inside & out. It really is the best hydrator!

Not only do I not grease my scalp since I have been visiting this site, since May, but I know longer use a special dandruff shampoo that I used for at least 6 or 7 years!!!!!

Okay, this is enough to make me cry, I love this website.

I stopped using grease when I was a teenager. It clogged my pores and caused me acne breakouts on my scalp and forehead. You think acne is bad on your face... try on your scalp!

I use leave-in conditioners and moisturizers and my scalp does not get dry. Plus I wash frequently. My favorites these days:

Profectiv Break-Free
Profectiv Mega-Moisturizer
QP Mango Butter

I've never been fond of greasing my scalp. Before I threw out the rest of my grease I tried to use it up by putting it only on the ends of my hair. I threw it out because I think EVOO will have the same effect.

sometimes when I used grease I'd get a nice big pimple somewhere on my face if I wasn't sure to keep my hands off my skin.

I've been using olive oil lately (grease)
on my scalp...
mainly because my scalp tends to get really dry and starts to itch if I don't moisturize it in some form.

I oil my scalp with my MTG mixture but prior to purchasing the MTG, I didn't at all. SInce I'm not experiencing remarkable growth, I will probably discontinue using it and stop oiling my scalp all together.

wow, MTG is not working for you? How long have you been using it? How many times per week? What hair type do you have?
TIA ;)

No I don't use grease on my scalp. I just gave away a jar of TCB Naturals that's been in the closet untouched for the longest time. I do MTG and Surge.

I don't put grease on my scalp. I notice that when grease is in my hair, it tends to shed a lot.

Instead I use cream based products such as Cantu Grow Strong, MyHoneyChild Natural Hair Cream, etc.

I don't put grease on my scalp anymore...when I did in the past...it always caused my skin to breakout and for some reason once grease was applied to my scalp it would itch.

No. Everytime I try to start again it just doesn't work. Since I wash my hair often my scalp generally doesn't flake. Also I believe taking Flax seed oil helps too.
