Good hair Bad hair

Ok so if I shingle my hair and it gives the appearance of 3bish-cish curls is my hair still "bad" or do I get a pass because it's good at that moment/

You get a pass. When I have gel in my hair and my curls pop, I get applauded for having good hair. When my hair is fluffed out or only has moisturizer in it I never get the good hair comments. :look:

I think the comments are pretty harsh and rude. Classifying hair as something negative is rude. The way in which some throw these words around is rude.

I am not a rude person, but I think we can do better. I think we have enough stereotyping to get over without exacerbating the situation even more. I thought more highly of LHCF.

Everyone definitely has a right to their opinion, but I think some things are better left unsaid. I don't see this as helpful in anyway. There's a danger here.

It's a fact that there is no good or bad hair. Just hair. That's a fact.

Just because someone does not share your opinion does not make it an ignorant one.
People should be careful about throwing that word around, it is actually a pretty harsh insult.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary: Opinion: belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge b: a generally held view.

No one said that the earth was flat. Now, that would have been ignorant, since it is a proven fact that the earth is round.
This thread is purely opinion based, if you don't share the opinions of others; express your view. There is no need to be rude.

You sure do get a pass!

You could shingle your hair everyday to "define" your "curls" and that way everyone would just think you've had good hair your whole life. But, that's when you'd start getting the "you must be part indian" comments, so be prepared.

Please lock this thread.

Por que?

No one's broken any rules from what I can see.

From what I can see, most of the comments aren't actually serious. Or maybe I'm just not taking them that seriously.

And, the fact is, most of the world outside of LHCF still subscribes to the good hair/bad hair dichotomy. There's no harm in discussing it. OP asked us our own opinions of good or bad hair. I don't see anything wrong with giving them.

IMO good hair is healthy hair at any length & bad hair is broken off & damaged hair.
Love, peace, and hair grease!!!!!!!

:lachen::lachen:

So wait, what if only part of my head has good hair? Can I join the club? :look:

bad_hair

WTH!!!
:naughty:

What is good hair, what is bad hair. What is your definition. I don't be lieve in that term. My Dh swears that bad hair is unmanagable hair that can't be combed, it can't be tamed. I don't know what that means. Is there hair that can't be combed? According to my DH good hair is hair manageable. So what does this mean to you? I don't want to argue I just want your definition.

I agree with your DH. I never worried about having long hair b/c people ALWAYS complimented my hair, no matter the length, even as a little girl when my hair was in a puff or plaits. I have very manageable hair.

Saying "no one has bad hair" is like saying no one has bad skin or a bad body shape.

Some women have UGLY shapes. I have "bad skin." If I don't take constant care of it, I will easily breakout. Even with constant care, I still have blemishes, blackheads and scarring. Some people have "good" skin and they never have to do anything to it, just like some people naturally have good hair.

ETA: Traditionally, the term clearly meant 3C hair, though. I don't see why ppl wanted this thread locked....the comments seemed pretty innocent/ half-joking to me.

This is just a misconception that many have and will continue to have as long as we live. To each its own. That's all I can say. Everyone has their own opinion.

good hair is healthy hair not matter its state of natural or relaxed. Bad hair is damaged hair that is tangled.

When my mom was little her older sisters used to call her, "Cantcha, Dontcha" hair. Meaning "you can't comb it and don't you try"... I think that gave my mom a complex....
