GHLW - ~*~Grow Hair Like Weed Challenge!~*~

OK, Ladies get ready for the “Growing Hair Like Weed” GHLW experience!

I am start the GHLW challenge today and it will last for 3 months.

Here is the plan:

  • Absolutely No (this means you! ) combing dry hair.
  • A comb can be use when conditioner (and lots of it :p ) is applied to detangle.
  • A comb can be used to rollerset (wet hair only  ).
  • Your regular maintenance plan still applies
How often you wash is up to you. We already know that no manipulation grows hair so you have nothing to lose.

Any takers!

Great...I am In since I have been doing this about 1 month now and I am amazed at how thick my hair is getting. I also do not brush through my hair, only smooth the edges about twice a week when I apply aloe vera gell to edges and then tie back with scarf. Hope to get some good length with this method. bonjour

gr8! That's 2 takers and I make 3.

Brushing is evil so it goes without saying 'No Brushing'. Thanks for pointing that out Mahalialee4.

Any idea how you plan to wear your hair during the challenge? I am wide open for suggestions.

I'm in...even though it feels so strange not to comb my hair, it has been a little easier than I thought.

I never in a million years would think combing your hair was counterproductive but last night as my mother was combing through her hair I saw just how damaging excessive combing could be.

So this is challenge number two for me. I will be wearing my hair in a braid-out and pulling it back into a bun.

I'll join this one...I've been trying to do this over the last week and a half. It's hard to get used to...but I'm sure I'll get the hang of fingercombing the more I do it.

The only thing I will use a brush for is to GENTLY smooth the top layer for my buns.

I will be wearing a variety of protective styles 95% of the time.

I am in! :) But does it count if you brush the edges to smooth down for a bun? I don't brush the ends but need to tocuh up my buns etc. at least sometime before the wash. Also, is there any brush that is actually okay to use for these purposes?? We should also make sure we are on our vitamins and water for this challenge. I just started my viviscal again and will be commited for at least this entire challenge of 3 months in addition to Biotin, MSM and Omega Oil. Anyone else??

I find raking over my hair with a fine tooth comb is better than the brush! Brushes are evil  !!!!! I will be giving up this method for this challenge tho!

Hey Girl! I have a couple of pics in my fotki. I'll post more tonight. But truuust me, I am no expert in these styles-just a warning lol!

I wish I could do this, but my braid-outs only last a day or two and I lose more hair combing wet than dry. I'd have to wash every other day to make it look nice.

I can do very little manipulation to my pressed hair, though. I only wash every 1-2 weeks.

hmmmm :perplexed.

I would love to join, but I have bangs that swoop the the side and the only way I can get them to look good after I take out my Caruso's is to comb them (sometimes i even brush them with a soft men's boar bristle brush). They look gorgeous after i comb them though, bouncy, soft and face framing... *sigh* Does anyone have advice on how to cut this step out of my routine... I've tried finger combing and it just looks like I have hair flying around in front of my face...:ohwell: :look:

I've been doing my personal version of no heat/manipulation for a month and I swear my hair looks thicker:eek: I am air drying using Salerm 21 or Giovianni Direct with Profectiv RootHealth. I wear a French roll, phony pony or 1 of my 2 wigs. I try to moisturize twice daily using Salerm, manog butter or Profectiv. I plan to continue this until my Daytona Beach trip in Sept:grin:

I would like to be in but I usually wear my hair curly. Not sure if that will limit my styling options to much, but I'll do my best.

COUNT ME IN!! I guess I've already been trying to do this, but I guess there is an official name for it now!!

I would also like to know what hairstyles would be good for this challenge. I'm assuming french braid would be too much manipulation...also, are we checking in at a certain time, or just whenever?

I would love to join this but there is no way that I can not comb my hair daily. I can limit it to combing twice a day, once in tha am and once when i apply my MN.

I don't think so, I am wearing my hair in two little Indian French braids parted down the middle. I plan to keep it like this until wash day with the only intentions of manipulating being to moisturize.

I think I look cute lol :p

Sounds like a good challenge! I'm in. I'll be wearing a ponytail or up in a clip. And I can't wait to see everybody's results.

I know it seem hard at first but once you try it you will like it. Of course it takes a bit longer to do but, You-R-Worth-It!

I usually part my hair with my finger into 4 sections and just ever-so-carefully work my fingers thru my hair. It easier to work with if I do it this way especially if I just messaged my scalp!

HTH!

I'm in on this challenge. I don't comb my hair as it is, so I figure that this is one challenge that I cannot fail! I will be wearing my hair straight. It's easy this way because I just cover with a scarf and in the morning take it off and go.

Re: GHLW - ~*~Grow Hair Like Weed Challenge!~*~

I wanna join, I just added some more vitamins to increase my growth. I wanna get as much growth as possible. I only comb my hair when it's wet cause I co wash so that won't be a problem.

Re: GHLW - ~*~Grow Hair Like Weed Challenge!~*~

Hey I'm in
I'm also on Supergrowout challenge but I don't think it will be a problem to keep this up for 3 months. I've just braided up anyways so I'll just stretch a little more for the end of this challenge.
