We have all read horror stories about naturals being put down for sporting their natural texture. This is not one of these stories. Everyone around me insists that I remain natural. My mom and sister tell me that I should not relax my hair again, and my mother is always looking for someone to do my natural hair for me. My sister-in-law says my natural hair suites me better and I should continue wearing braids and twists. A co-worker offered to let me try her WEN conditioning shampoo before I considered putting another relaxer in my hair. Mind you, I am a tightly coiled with alot of frizz and fluff 4a/4b so I know its not a "you've got good hair" thing going on. I try to explain how I've got mad shrinkage and my hair will be very close to APL stretched by the end of the summer and I just want to debulk it a little. I don't think I am because everyone around me thinks I look better natural. So, I guess I am saying that just because you are natural doesn't mean that their is always going to be opposition to your decision. In my case, I have gotten the most opposition in considering going back to relaxing!

We are >>>>HERE<<<< my mum and sis were :nono: when I decided to texlax
My mum HATES the fact that I colour but I was born to be blonde

Its amazing to me when I come on here and people talk about their friends and family not being pro-natural. My family don't like me in braids! weaves! they aren't fond of relaxers or any chemicals- or anything aside from maybe cornrows -infact the reason everyone believes we don't have the same length as cousins is that we do "stuff" (read: anything that's not just your hair out of your scalp) but i never really pay any attention to what people want me to do for myself anyway:rolleyes:.
