I just bought a BKT 2% formaldehyde but I’m hesitant to use it:

a) I’m afraid it wont work ..all that 6 hr work for disappointment again like the last time (however it was formaldehyde free)

b) I hate something coating my stands and I’m aware that when the treatment wears off. ..I will have to deal with all the “back shedding” from the strand being coat for so long

c) I hate heat

..I’m thinking about just throwing in the towel and buying a kit of phyto relaxer off eBay …F ..it!

I have 4bzz natural hair.

Question #1 : All former natural who eventually permed…WHY didn’t u just BKT instead? Why did you perm?

Question #2: It is safe to put a relaxer over a texturizer just ONCE using the SAME perm?

Hmm to answer question number 2 I would say no, it is not alright. At the very least I would see a professional hair styler, before taking on matter with your own hands.
As for the question number 1, I did not BKT anything so I don't know anything about that. The relaxer is something I was used to so I relaxed, plus I was in high school and you know... peer pressure, lOl. BKT and relaxers are two separate chemicals. One is permanent and the other not so much so, you can't really relate the two.

The answer for me is simple. I am not putting a BKT on my hair because of lack of knowledge of long term results. I would rather relax because I know what it would do and I am familiar with the long term effect of it. BKT is too risky for me. You need to use high heat to "bake" the BKT in your hair. I am still not liking the fact you have to apply it with a mask on. You don't need to do that with a relaxer. Each has its bad effects, but I feel like there is more info on relaxer care. BKT supposedly "wears off." I just don't trust it does.:nono:

I'm natural, but formerly relaxed...if you use the exact same formula, double processing is the only concern. Originally, texturizers and relaxers were in different categories because they use different chemicals, and relaxers are stronger. But now, people call a relaxer a texturizer just because they don't leave the formula on as long, so it gets a bit confusing. However, I don't recommend double processing hair ever, but...I've double processed on a relaxer by mistake before and still had hair, but I'm not sure I'd cosign on it. Why can't you straighten your roots and gradually keep doing that while flat ironing or blowing out the texturized part?

The thing is my whole head is natural ...the Single/double/triple SK takes too much time to deal with. If the BKT, doesn’t work, I’m going to perm. I’m not dealing with this anymore. My hair would have been soo much longer by now. I will maintain it with BKT though, if that makes sense. I've also dont notice any WL hair folks with my hair type...4Z no curl pattern.

This is true. There are a few questions I have about BKT but I know that I’ll have to read threads that contain 2,000 responses or more and I still maybe not find the answer - some threads wonder off in multiple directions sometimes.

I was so DONE with transitioning...my hair was a HOT mess....BKT was my alternative to a relaxer b/c i didnt want to regret smthg that i couldnt undo and i could just let the BKT wear off if i changed my mind and didnt like it....i've used the formaldehyde version once, but mostly the formaldehyde-free versions....about every 6 months...my hair never comes out bone straight but im ok with that...just having less frizz and more manageability is enough for me...

and ITA with the sisters AGAINST double processing (relaxer over texturizer) - sounds like a bad idea...i dont even understand why pple BKT over relaxers...to me, one or the other is good enough but i never experienced BKT as a relaxed person so i wouldnt kno the benefits...
