For those who went from shoulder length hair to brastrap...What's your secret??

I went from shoudler length (shorter in the front) to almost bra-strap (about 2 or so inches shy) in less than 8 mths by wearing protective styles, bunning and keeping my ends moisturized. I never trimmed. I dusted once or twice. I was just an animal about keeping my ends protected. When I did wear my hair out or down, I put my ends up as soon as I got home. I'm trying this same routine to transition again :yup:
The first pic is Feb 19th and the second was early Oct 1st:
