Fall/winter, Braid-out/ Twist-out Routines

Need to wash my hair but I was feeling like crap yesterday. Last night, I used Curl Origin Moisture spray and leave in. Braided it up with AM lemongrass pomade.

Hopefully. I’ll be washing this weekend. Just twisted by bang up and tucked the back in last night.

@Bette Davis Eyes and anyone else interested. Here is a pic of a day 1 braid and curl. I do about 8 braids with small perm rods on the end with foam wrap. Once it dries, I take out each braid and tap the roots with a warm flat iron (300 degrees) to create more length.

I’m sorry I don’t have a comparison photo but it gives just a little bit more length and loosens it up from day 1, vs having to wait for day 3-4.

Detangled my hair slightly to start to stretch it in twists for tomorrow night in order to have all my hair stretched as much as possible before braiding it up for a braid out.

currently have braids in. Its kind of humid here so Im not sure I will take it out today. Its going to instantly fluff out because I rarely use a styler to braid.

Forgot my bonnet last night and my hair was all over my head today.

soft and plush though. I’ll be at the water park tomorrow and try to not get it wet but we shall see.

after work on Sunday I’ll be washing.

My hair didnt get wet at the water park but it was kinda smushed. I twisted/braided the front and put the back into a tucked low ponytail.

I'll wash when I get off today. Not sure if I want to do braids for a braidout or go back to a washngo.

Humidity just wont let me be great!

I used the braid out glaze Friday evening and as soon as I hit outside, puff the magic dragon.


Last night I called myself using some of Negesbanda Twisting Aid that has honey in it, HA! Im thinking hold and the humdity is thinking.....humectant baby!

My braid out was looking decent but I went skating last night and poof the magic dragon. I pulled it up into a bun this morning

I twisted the front of my hair up and took it down this morning. Big and fluffy. Soon as I hit the humidity. Poof. So I twisted it back up. Lol

My twistouts are getting better! I used Oyin Hair Dew and tgin Butter cream Daily Moisturizer on my hair. I did 7 flat twists in the back (though I think I needed 8) and I'm not sure how many on the sides. I should have done a before picture. I am learning than I need smaller twists for a fluffier twist out (especially in the front), but not too small.

Okay. I’m going to do a braidout for work on Monday. However I want to braid it up tonight and leave it in.

I need something that’s going to stretch and not shrink. Gotta think about it. I wonder if a foam mousse would work.

I used a pomade on Saturday evening and nothing else. Took my two cornrows down this morning and not a wave in sight, LOL


Its not a big deal because I want to keep it stretched anyways but dang, nothing!

I used a little bit of QB last night and a slight spritz of a SSI spray and still no waves lol after braiding it.

I’m not really trying though because I need my hair stretched to get it twisted up tomorrow afternoon. I’ll probably bun tomorrow.

Debating if I’m going back to Braidouts with the use of my revair on washdays or if I’m going to washngo

I used the The Doux Braid and Edge gel. I was going to keep it in until tomorrow but I wanted to see how it would fall.

As I've been incorporating more cardio into my workouts, my hair doesn't last a full week anymore. I wanted style alternatives so that I didn't just resort to a bun or a puff at the end of the week.

This is a braid-out with 10 braids on 7 day hair. I'm trading volume for elongation but I'm not mad at my initial results: I think braid-outs will be easier to maintain and refresh. It only took 25 minutes to put these in. Most of that time was because I'm not the best braider so I lost track of which leg was supposed to go in the middle

I’ve been playing around with Smooth Naturals cream styler but it’s been damp and not setting because I’ve not set it under the dryer. I’ll probably wash tonight because my scalp is a little itchy. Pulled the back up in a tucked ponytail

I rarely (almost never) do braidouts, so I thought I'd drop a pic of mine today. Two weeks ago, I after blowdrying and a trim, I put in 8 canerows, mainly using Nature's Little Secret Irish Moss Styling Cream.

I get so annoyed with myself and then start laughing at every time. I rarely use anything with hold on braidouts and expect it to set after putting it in chunky braids lol.

I have the back in a tucked bun. Going to pull it all up tonight as I’m going out later in the evening.
