Freshly rinsed twists.
Rinsed with Fenugreek sprout water and covered with cheapie condish. I usually bun it after rinsing but I want to let it get mostly dry in this ponytail before I bun it.

ETA: Forgot to add a pic of my dry ponytail yesterday. I was planning to wear my hair down but I didn't.

So let me get this straight: Those pictures are one day apart? Man, hair is amazing! :love:

They look so nice!! :)

@snoop and @MzSwift

I know I have awhile before I do Knotless Braids but like to plan ahead :)

I was wondering how many braids/twists do have when they are done? I'm debating between 78, 68, 56, 54, or 50. I would do 78 but I'm thinking about taking them down :laugh:

How long does it take you to take them down?

@25InchesStarting'25

I honestly don't know how many I have. The only time I've ever counted my individual braids is when I was starting locs. Otherwise, I have no clue. Lol

For take downs, I move at a leisurely pace. I usually try to do it in 3 sections starting in the back. I usually try to stick to one section each day, so maybe 3 days for take downs. Doing it this way, I can pull the front braids/twists back and bun it all together in a low bun. When my hair was shorter, I'd do a middle part and put my unfinished hair into two low buns or I'd just rock a scarves or wigs until I'm finished.

If I have a whole day to do it, then it usually takes me about 6-8 hours to take my hair down. I only use my fingers and I take my time to clear knots and tangles. So that's why it takes me a while.

I don't aim for a particular number and I don't count them. I just follow the natural parts in my hair and create the twists accordingto the size that I want.

My takedowns seem to take forever. in my head it will take an hour but I feel like it took me around 3 or more hours. I just put in a good show and take my time.

@MzSwift @Snoop, Thanks! I will be parting my hair, why I can map out how many braids in advance. I have the option of 78, 68, 58, 56, 54, 52, and 48. I might start with lowest of 48 and work my up to see what I like best

I would like 3 hours max for take down since goal is to wear them for 2 weeks. If I was wearing them 6-8 weeks I wouldn't mind 6-8 hours

(Posted in Grow It Long and Mini Braids/Twist thread)

I was looking at the calendar and thought of creating a Summer Challenge for May, June, July, August
Grow It Long LC - July
Hip - Tailbone LC- June
75 Day Challenge LC -May
*Length Check
The only month missing is August :laugh:

I'm planning to add braids to my regimen for summer in May, but would create a challenge if anyone was interested

Summer Braid & Hydrate Challenge

Braids/Twists/Threading
1x/Month
2 to 3 Weeks Max

Week(s) With No Braids
Co Wash +4 Days/Week with at least 1 Wash Day
OR
DC 2x/Week with at least 1 Wash Day

Post a length check anytime, once per month for May, June, July, August

If anyone is interested let me know from now until the end of April and I'll make a thread for the challenge :)

If my calculations are correct, Friday marks 9 weeks since I've installed these twists. They're starting to look a bit ratty, but I keep telling myself that if I were locing my hair, that I'd probably have to go through these same frizzy growing pains.

I put my hair in a bun yesterday after washing it, so that I could stretch my twists. My hair was still damp when I took the bun down to take this photo which is why my twists are "molded" and in weird shapes.

I kept my mini braids for 3 months and took it out on March 26th, and unfortunately due to time constraints I had to switch back to twists since installation time is a lot more quicker. Will keep the hair in twists for 2 months and switch back to mini braids.

Was up late last night finishing this set of mini braids. It's time for me to start doing home projects so I expect that I'll just keep these in and refresh monthly until the fall. I did bigger parts in order to save time but, bc of my density and fine strands, it ended up looking extra scalpy. I will likely split them into smaller parts during my next refresh. These will be covered up for the most part anyway and I'll bun them or something if I have to wear them out.
