Don't kill me ladies! But why is Sasha and Mahlia's hair not longer than apl?

That's crazy! LOL

I'm sorry, but I was just thinking about starting a thread about how Sasha and Malia are my natural hair IDOLS. Their hair is thick and luscious & they alternate between natural and straight. They are absolutely gorgeous little girls & their hair is gorgeous, too.

:perplexed:nono::rolleyes::wallbash: @ this thread...

I just want to say that I think their hair looks healthy and well taken care of. Who cares if their hair isn't APL or longer? Geesh...

As for the "Sasha and Mahlia' Better Goods" thread, the OP got:gotroasted: for it.

Let me get the  because this thread's going to get worse before it gets :padlock2:

Malia's hair was actually almost touching MBL before the convention. She decided that she wanted it cut to the current APL length she sported that day. Her momma (Michelle) gave that answer live on tv when answering questions about Malia's new hair cut and both girls' dresses.

IMO, this thread is pointless. It's obvious that their hair is natural, healthy, and cared for. Isn't that what most of us rant about when we see a picture posted with a young girl's hair looking a mess. Since when did we start questioning why a healthy head of hair is not past APL?

I don't have an answer to the question, but this reply is TOO FUNNY!:lachen::lachen::lachen:

Hey now...hey now...:look:

I think the difference here is within what you just wrote - these are kids, not adults. So when you speak of..."who has the better goods? What is wrong with so and so's makeup etc is not over the top???"...that's kinda different in a way.

Plus maybe its in the way it was worded..(did I spell that right?). It kinda came across as they SHOULD have longer hair, than what if, why not, maybe...kinda see what I'm tryin to say?

Even then, I get your point, it is a hair board, but at the same time...I think they are beautiful girls, with healthy hair...no matter what length. And like someone mentioned before about teaching our young girls "whats acceptable and ok"...

I dont know...I think ppl know what I'm tryin to say...sorry, its still a lil early for me..:lachen:
This is why so many young black girls have a complex about their hair. Their hair always looks good and healthy when I've seen it. You can tell someone is taking care of it. There shouldn't be anything to criticize IMO.

who knows with kids, you can't be on them every minute of the day they pull and tug at their own hair a lot, from my experience. Heck my nieces with long hair are twins and one decided one day she was going to cut the other one's ponytail.

can you pass the popcorn? and can someone grill some hot dolls on the grill that the OP is going to get cooked on? I'm kinda hungry... ALL I've had was chocolate all day

I think their hair looks cute with their little hanging curls. Its probably hasn't crossed anyone's mind to grow their hair any longer. It really never crossed my mind before I found LHCF. In the last picture of I saw of their mother in Essence, I thought Michelle's hair looked thin. :roadrunner:

I give KUDOS to Michelle for not running them to the stylist to get relaxers and overly adult haircuts for them to be "camera-ready" (Jon Benet comes to mind). Letting them be beautiful young black girls and enjoying the same hair and life experiences (sans living in the white house) as the rest of us!

 Here, you can have this one :pop:. I really can't eat anything other than pudding, applesauce, noodles, etc because I got my tongue pierced Friday night. If I can find a straw, I take a beer if someone has one.:grin:

Awww... these pictures are precious... Every time I see these two I want a little girl sooo bad.. Can't wait 'til I have one! I love it when little girls look like little girls... It reminds you that kids really should be kids, and they dont have to rush growing up and looking grown.. There something innocent and yet simple about them that's a breath of fresh air.

The Obamas have a lot of pressure, being the "new" model of the Black American family which is a lot. I think their simplicity, class, style, unity and love they have will intrigue many but also dispell so many stereotypes and questions people have about how a black family lives, loves and operates... And to think the truth is that they represent the majority and many just dont know that. A lot of us come from two parent, loving homes, are beautiful and live the average lifestyle with some class and couth! It just seems that the media and this country doesn't want to accept that picture and view of who we are.. Again I say, hats off to them and God bless them!

(wonderin how come I cant get this many responses this quick when I got questions about my hair...):feedback:

Easy. You have to make your titles more controversial! Like....

"DCing is pointless." or "Moisture sucks." or "What's the point of baggying?"

When you say...."I have a question....." even people who know the answer won't answer. IDK why this is.

They are the cutest little girls and I love them to death but when they get their hair straightened I am just shocked. With top stylists available to them how come their hair isn't longer? Most of us on the boards at that age can all vouch for longer tresses and we had kitchen beauticians ( our moms) doing our hair.

Maybe we need Michelle to become a member of LHCF. We can then advise her to start weekly deep conditioning on the girls and more moisture/ protective styles.

The key word being stylists. Girl you know what they tend to do to our hair....enough said.

Anyway, to actually attempt to answer the question asked....their hair is probably pretty thick and healthy and any longer would be a lot to handle.

Their length is about where many AA girls are when their mothers relax it. (or at least mine was) It may be that Michelle isn't trying to grow it out any longer so that it will be easy to manage.

I don't think the OP's question was all that bad, I was just a little surprised because most of us love their hair. It's like asking, "Why is Michelle only SL," when you know people admire her bounce and body & like her hair the way it is.

MAYBE their mom doesn't want their hair to be touching their butts and she keeps it to a not short but nice length............I think LHCF women sometimes forget that not everyone wants long hair...
