Does ORS creamy aloe clarify/chelate?

Do you classify ORS as a clarifying/chelating poo?

whoa, I've been using this as my clarifier, this is a very interesting thread. last time I used this, my hair came out soft and detangled.
It makes sense that it removes calcium build up only because this is the neutralizer that apparently comes with the ors no lye relaxing system....and you need to chelate after no lye to remove calcium build up....

I also want an opinion about nexxus aloe rid, does it chelate too?

Hmm, this is all very interesting, I should purchase another chelator to compare , however I like this one because it's easy on my wallet, the only other ones I can think of are nexxus and joico and the like....

That's why I bought it too. But if people are saying it isn't a chelating poo it makes me a little skeptical. I want something that really does what it needs to do before/after I do my no-lye relaxers. I REALLY didn't want to have to use the ones like Joico and Nexxus, I'm on a budget lol

^^^ A cheaper chelating poo is Quantum Clarifying shampoo sold at Sally's. Though it's called clarifying, the label specifically says it also chelates. I believe Ion Hard Water shampoo is sold in Sally's as well. That chelates also.

Bumping - I really like how my hair feels after using ORS but I'm still not sure on if it clarifies, chelates and/or neutralizes.

Interesting... I found this on Lotioncrafters:

EDTA, Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid is a molecule which complexes metal ions in aqueous environments. It is available in four neutralizations, two of which, Disodium EDTA and Tetrasodium EDTA, are commonly used in the cosmetics. Generally, the choice of which product to use is determined by the pH of your product.

Disodium EDTA is used in neutral to mildly acidic products, like most creams and lotions and neutral pH liquid soaps and shampoos.

Tetrasodium EDTA is recommended for alkaline products, like most handcrafted soap (and can also be used in creams and lotions).

EDTA works synergistically with your preservative to improve preservative efficacy.

I loove ion hard water poo and conditioner

Its definitely as neutralizing poo, it comes with the relaxer.
I tend to use Neutralizing shampoo's to clarify my hair.

To me, ORS Creamy Aloe shampoo is in its own weird category. It removes calcium build-up (the level of calcium in water determines its softness or hardness). And when calcium builds up on the strands it block moisture from properly reaching hair strands.

But it doesn't chelate (binding with minerals, including iron). And it doesn't clarify per se (removing all different kinds of product buildup).

But nonetheless, it is excellent at what it does do and I use it at almost every shampoo. :yep:

How do you know that it doesn't do all of these things?

ORS is chelating, aloe and the ingredient EDTA demineralises mineral deposits. EDTA is a strong chelating agent. Chelating means, in this case, it binds well with calcium and magnesium from hard water. It comes with a no lye calcium based relaxer to chelate after usage.

Wow, been awhile since I posted in this thread. My opinion from before was just based on the description from the bottle (which noted removing calcium buildup) and my own personal experience (ORS doesn't seem better than any other shampoo when it comes to removing product buildup and working as a clarifyer).
