I ask because a friend of mine just told me that she has been doing it for about a year now after putting on a heat protectant. BTW, her hair is waist-length, relaxed (by her) with Optimum no-lye.

Not enough money in the world!

She said that it saves her a lot of time and that it sounded like chicken frying.

My hair might fall out just from me THINKING about somebody ELSE doing that

She must have some strong hair for it to be able to take that abuse and still flourish.

Re: Does anyone on here flat-iron their hair wet??

Oh heyell naw!!! ((Just thinking about the sound of my hair sizzling as the hot flat iron touched it...))

Re: Does anyone on here flat-iron their hair wet??

Her hair is waist-length and it's shines and swings. It's gorgeous. I just know my hair could NOT take that.

Edit: I'm trying to discourage her from doing that.

Re: Does anyone on here flat-iron their hair wet??

Once when I was in Florida, a stylist pressed my hair when it was still damp. I got so many compliments on how my hair looked. Go figure.

Re: Does anyone on here flat-iron their hair wet??

Well, I must admit that when I'm wearing a bun with bangs and I want the bangs really straight instead of wavy, I'll spritz the bangs with water, apply coconut oil or something and flat iron.

The flat iron is on a really low setting though (like 3 out of 20).

Back in the day when my hair was a healthy below the waist length, I would press my hair damp, not wet though.

You know, if your friend likes flat ironing her hair wet maybe she'd be interested in getting a Krembs Wet/Dry ceramic flat iron.

They're pricey but the benefit is that you're drying the hair while closing the cuticle at the same time. Also, it's made so the steam and heat aren't right at your head.
Just a thought.

Re: Does anyone on here flat-iron their hair wet??

This has to be a joke. Your hair would not hold any type of style or heat wet. That's like pressing wet hair; it just wouldn't work.

All i have to say is,
huh.gif
I did not even know that it was possible to flat iron wet hair. Your friend wouldn't happen to like joking around would she?

Re: Does anyone on here flat-iron their hair wet??

I actually did this once last year on slightly damp hair. I knew it was wrong but it felt (and looked) so right.

Cute,

Why is your name so long?

Anway, you can flat iron damp hair; I spray a moisturizer and then flat iron. This woman said the lady's hair is WET; you can't flat iron wet hair.

I actually like the way you shorten it. I feel like I am getting a compliment each time. Ha. Oh okay, totally wet, I can see why that wouldn't work. Would it even look good ? Mine was damp as in I didn't feel like blow drying anymore. I basically never blow dry, so I my arms got tired real quick.

Her hair is so silky and pretty, I don't really know. But from the way that she describes it, it's probably in the 4a/b range. I'm sure that she meant damp. Like towel-dried. I don't think soaking wet would work too well. And after going to the krembs website and doing an internet search for some cheaper prices (lowest $149 for wet/dry flat-iron), I think it's something that can be done. From some of the websites, it's supposed to eliminate the drying step (since most people blow-dry or put some type of heat prior to flat-ironing) and it supposedly closes and smooths the cuticle also. I'm thinking about doing it myself even though it sounds really bad, but I need another flat-iron and some heat protectant. Anybody know of a good heat protectant. I just don't want to spend all day at Sally's looking for something that somebody on here has already tested out.

(just curious is this a good, good friend or a co-worker, aaquaintance.....I'm really just curious)

Re: Does anyone on here flat-iron their hair wet??

I'm wondering if it's sealing in the moisture as well as closing and smoothing the cuticle. I never heard of this before but maybe there are others who have done this on a regular basis that we can ask.

I think I like the sounds of this...

Just think, clothes come out better when you spray a little starch/sizing and when you use water in the iron.

I'm going to try this the next time I flat-iron...I'll be sure to make sure my hair is only damp and not completely wet.

I'll keep ya'll posted

I did this once also. I was pretty late and didn't blowdry completely so teh hair was still damp. I did hear some sizzle and wasa tad worried but continued. My hair was silky and bouncy. Maybe it is l;ike sealing in moisture, something like the foil on wet hair thing. And since it was a ceramic iron it maybe replicated that.

i saw a jilbere flat iron in sally's yesterday that said it was supposed to be used on wet hair. I had never seen it before but it really peaked my interest. has anyone ever seen this or has anyone used this?
