Does anyone Clarify once a week?

I clarify once a week or sometimes more than that depending on what I'm using in my hair. I don't have any problems with breakage or dryness.

If so, has it had any adverse effects on your hair like dryness or breakage??
I clarify once a week. I've been doing this for a long time now. I love having VERY CLEAN hair prior to conditioning it. IMO, it helps the conditioner out. I haven't experienced any adverse effects on my hair.

I clarify once a week, because I have been having bad buildup and I am using MTG. I use Dr. Bronner's castile soap once and follow with my regular shampoo which is CON. I haven't have any adverse effects. My hair is thriving and I can't wait to post results once I relax soon! GREAT Question as I have been wondering myself!

I do with every wash, which is once or twice a week.

I have to with all the products I use.

Honestly, the times when i was rushing and skipped that step, my hair seems to drip more when I apply my leave-in. When I do clarify, my leave in just absorbs (which is what I want!) and never drips as I massage it in. Also, when I skip that step, my hair seems dull and gets tangled more after drying.

I used Keracare's 1st Lather last night and I LOVE it. The 4.5 pH is attractive, as well. My hair really did like that stuff. I am going to switch to it.

Yeah I was wondering this too.

I use Keracare First Lather once a month and when I deep condition with Humecto, my hair always comes out the best.

But, I know that shampoos containing ALS and SLS are bad for you so I limit it to once a month.

But, Im wondering, if Im using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner afterwards, is it really THAT bad? In fact, arent I then getting the most out of my conditioner (which is what I really want anyways)??

I found that I have to with all of the products I am using, my hair collects "gunk" and it just sits on my hair instead of absorbing. It looks shinier and lighter as well if I remove the products (by clarifying) and then reapply to fresh clean hair!

I do with elucence clarifying shampoo (which is pretty mild) I've been doing this for the past 6 months with positive results and have not noticed ay adverse effects... in fact, it helps my scalp stay clean

Macherie, i hear some people mix the 1st lather and hydrating poo together. i'm gonna do that for my next wash, as i'm not due for a straight up clarify, but myscalps itchhhhhhy!

anymore suggestions for shampoos to use that are reasonably priced...I was using suave....i dunno if it was doing a good job.

I think suave is good. I like the Dr. Bronners and a little goes a long way!

I can never use Suave. Too stripping for my frequency of use.

But, Neutrogena (sp?) has their Anti-Residue formula that is pretty reasonably priced. Also, I remember someone saying their Clean line has a shampoo that is very cleansing w/o being stripping.

Again, LHCF has come to my rescue:) I had the same question! Now I know I can use my Ion Clarifying Poo more than once a month!

I clarify once a week, I think it's necessary for me. I use Elucence clarifiying shampoo. My hair responds a lot better when I use a clarifying shampoo first.

My only question that I've been wondering about. If I do a prepoo or some type of protein treatment on my dry hair before shampooing? Will the clarifying shampoo strip or eliminate the effects of prepooing?

I clarify once a week but not very much, only if I've been using a lot of products which isn't very often. Most of the time I clarify every 2 weeks using acv rinses only. I have had no negative effects. I do wonder sometimes if I should be using a clarifying shampoo sometimes?? I think I read somewhere that acv dosen't remove cones or mineral oil but I'm not sure. If anyone has an answer I would appreciate it.

I clarify pretty often when I frequently conditioner wash. I notice the conditioner washes cause my hair to buildup. CW are not really meant for cleansing the hair.

This is my question too! I love pre pooing, but I think maybe I should start clarifying 1x a week for my 1st lather with all the cones I use. But it seems like one wouldn't pre poo before clarifying. What to do, what to do... :whyme:

i would alternate and pre poo on the week you don't clarify. If that makes sense.

That makes a lot of sense. But, I clarify once a week. Maybe I should clarify once every two weeks.

I was asking myself this question also. I have been using a lot of serums and polishers with and without heat lately and the buildup is out of this world. I am in desperate need of a clarifying shampoo (I used baking soda). With this regimen, using a clarifying poo once per week is a MUST for me.

I clarify twice a week followed by moisturizing poo and conditioner. Between sparkelites and Aveda Be-Curly I'd have a gang of buildup if I didn't.

Ditto for me!

What it the ALS & SLS? I think it is some sort of soduim larueth? I am KeraCare but will be incorporating natrual programs in my regimen from Carol's Daughter or some natural company.

I do this all the time. I mix a clarifying poo (aveda detox) with whatever my first lather is. Then lather second like normal. Works great.
