Thanks!!! I tried giving him natures blessings (especially since I can find it locally) but he doesn't like the scent :( I've gotten him hairobics scalp booster which smells like peppermint and he's been ok with that but wanted to see what other options are out there to consider.

Qhemet Biologics Amla Oil Nourishing Pomade works well and has a very light scent

No stopped using grease for about 5 years. It's crazy because back then my hair was nice and thick but became very weighed down to it. I went from grease, to coconut oil applied to the hair and scalp daily(it use to drip all down my back in the summer) and now I just moisturize and seal daily

Oyin burnt sugar pomade, Qhemet aeotheopika twist butter acts like a grease. I honestly got great results using sulfur 8 grease on my hair. I can't use it now because hubby hates the smell.:ohwell:

I have some and I rarely use it. It use it when my hair looks dull and needs a shine boost. I hate the way it feels on my hair though

No, not standard grease. As in, grease with petroleum etc. I use pomades and butters. I dont wash often enough to justify using a sealer thats gonna block my hair feom receiving moisture the next day.

I do. Ive mentioned in threads about grease before that it helps with breakage and retaining length.

I remember as a teen staying with my aunt over the summer. My hair was relaxed at the time and damaged. My cousin used blue magic grease on my hair twice a week and twisted it up. I went back home with long ponytails that summer. (Grin) as soon as I stopped using it, the breakage came back.

Right now I rotate between blue magic, the softee greases from the dollar tree and b&b. I don't put it on my scalp but use it on my edges and length of my hair. It helps against the elements in winter, frizz, and I retain wonderfully.

When its wash day I just remember too clarify well. When I use it too smooth dd's ponytails, her braided or twisted styles last much longer than when I don't.

My cousin is a straightened natural and her hair is waist length. She encourages the use of grease and heavy oils. She said her hair is greasy but it doesn't look that way. Her hair is beautiful.

I use KayVel curl wave. It's actually thicker than grease but without the bad ingredients. I use it on my daughters hair and it acts like grease but better. I also use it to seal my hair when I'm bunning or braid, and it seals like a muva!
