Do you think it's appropriate for Christian ladies to model tight clothing?

That's a good question and I believe we've discussed something similar here on this board. Um, I really don't know about this one. The Word says that women are to dress modestly, but let me tell you something that someone once told me. If you have adjust your skirt, shirt or whatever in front of your pastor or even if Jesus himself was standing in front of you, it's inappropriate.

Well, what if the person has an abnormally big butt, and their pants just fit like that?

Well, I don't know about that. They can always go to a tailor.

I was not blessed with a gigantic butt, so I make do with what I have. Did you read the most recent issue of KING magazine? It features a girl w/ a butt so big, she has to have all of her bottoms altered.

All in all, I really don't know what to say about this. Guys are going to look regardless.

Hey ladies, I hope you are all blessed at the time you read this post. Let me start by saying I'm not "pastor" by any stretch of the imagination, but as most of you know I do love the Lord more than life. Anyway, to address the question at hand.

I want to say, it's not so much about what you wear as it is about how what you wear affects others. Said more directly, someone could put on something that's tight and mean no harm or have no underlying intent for wearing the outfit, however, what they wear can cause someone else to lust, which IS a sin. One rule of thumb I take whenever I dress, I ask myself, if I was going to visit God would I feel okay wearing what I have on. If the answer is, "Oooo, I wouldn't want him seeing this much of my boobs, " or, "I know these pants are showing more than they leave to the imagination so I wouldn't want God seeing me like this," then, won't wear it. It's one thing to put something on and honestly don't see it's potential to cause someone to sin. However, it's a whole nother ball game when you "upfront" know that what you are about to put on will be provocative, sensual, and more than likely cause men/women to lust after you. For such actions, God WILL HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE for all you cause to go astray. One scripture that offers support for what I have said is:

"For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse"
Acts 19:40.

We are all aware of the rise of porn, soft porn, andt the various forms this has taken to entrap the creations of God (man). We, as children of God, are required to do all we can to control for this permeation of sin in this world, thus, we ARE NOT to add to what is going on sinfully in society. Yes, God has made use beautiful, some with very nice builds, but what he created for the good should not be used to increase that which is bad. I hope I am making sense to you. Personally, I may wear something nice for my husband, but that is in the privacy of my own home...my body is not my own nor is his. But God created physical attributes for my mate's enjoyment and visa versa.

I hope I didn't sound too preachy, but I love to be of help with I know brothers and sisters in the Lord who are seeking the truth. I pray you continue to seek the Lord wholeheartedly and that you continue to stand for righteousness sake.

Agape love to you all.

Thanks cybra. That's a very interesting perspective. I never thought about it that way, not that I try to dress provocatively. I always try to present myself with class.

As for tight clothes, I do wear them. When I bought them they weren't tight. Some of them even sagged off me, but in the past few months I have gained 10 pounds, and zeros now look like stretch pants on me. I'm not wearing them, because I want people to sin. I hope they're not sinning because of me, because I sure wouldn't sin for them. Anyway, I don't have any money to spare on new clothes and am hoping that I drop the extra weight before I am able to do that.

Another question, if it's someone's job to model clothes (not church dresses), how does that fit into our religion? If he or she is a Christian, do you find that inappropriate?

lol, Some woman would have to wear a CAPE for guys not to look at them. And even THEN, I'm sure some dudes would still lust! God DID buidt our bodies to be attractive!

That's really a good question...and I don't really have an answer. My advise to the person - keep your crack in and look as respectable as you can! :lachen:

Let us make a comparasion.

Open at a JCPenny catalog.
You will see women modeling drawers and bras. They aren't bent over a car, their legs aren't wide open, their not juiced down in baby oil, they are just modeling drawers and bras. And that is what their intent is; to show you how the drawers and bras look. I seriously doubt that the granny panties in the JCPenny catalog is causing the human race to fall into lust. :lachen:

But open a Lowrider, King, FHM magazine. Once again you see ladies modeling in drawers and bras, but their intent is very different. When you look at women in those magazines you're not thinking, "these drawers are $12, what a deal," you're thinking something totally different.

I'm pretty sure you can maintian your religion and morals and still be a model......just don't be half nekkid on top of a caddilac.

There is nothing "disgusting and self-degrading" about low-rider jeans. They are just an article of clothing!

If they are cut low to the "mons pubis" :lachen: they are.

MissJ,

The fact that you are asking due to the slight change of weight means you are beyond what you consider modest. I don't have the funds to sew any more and keeping up with the fluctuating(6-10)weight caused a challenge to me. I frequent thrift stores that get their donations from wealthy people or buisness working woman for the variety and quaility. I have developed my own modest but nice wardrobe. I have taken too longer jackets and or tops that gentlly cover to below the hips while being still complimentary to me. I love long skirts and at thift stores I find high priced quality cloths for pennies. Jill Clayborn silk blouses for .95 and a beautifle jacket and skirt for a few dollars more. Modest, yet nice looking and I still feel like I repesent my Christian woman hood in taste. Oh and the savings. I never go to malls or even Walmart any more.

Even in our choice of employment you do have to consider your values and who you represent. Sorry to say I caught my son hiding the ladies underwear section of J.C. Penny's catalogue.

Be accountable to the Lord that is who matters most anyway.

Exactly. Its WHO WEARS THEM AND HOW YOU WEAR THEM THAT MAKES SOMETHING LOOK DEGRADING OR NOT. Im pretty sure we've seen examples of how one person looks provactive in one outfit, and the next person who wears the exact ensemble doesnt "scream" sex. Lets get that straight. Plus they are the only jeans that actually look right and no my crack is not hanging outtta my pants either. I refuse to wear highwaisted pants christian or not...My torso is too short and I will look like urkel.

In essence I think you can still look cute and fashionable and still be modest according to your religion. Low rider jeans included. There is a woman who lives on my floor, who is a Mormon and I love her style.

These are all interesting replies. Thanks for the comments.

In the defence of low-rise jeans from what I see in the stores, that's mostly what they sell now, well low-rise and stretch jeans.

Anyway, my church and dress up clothes still fit nicely (except I burst out of a skirt on Father's Day). It's the everyday clothes that I can't wear much anymore. I think I'm gonna continue hitting the track and buy some more clothes, when I get the money.
