I have had my hair blown dry before getting it braided when I have gone to have it done professionally.

And quite a few ytbers do before they braid or twist to stretch the hair out.

I would definitely wash, dc and blowdry straight before getting braided up. Aint no way they would be ripping and tearing through my naps and kinks

Yes, I blowdry my hair. My hair does better with blowdrying than airdrying.

Edited to Add: Before I voted, I didn't see the original post where you said, "before getting it braided." I don't get my hair braided. I just blowdry before doing most hair styles.

No. If I detangle and airdry in 6 or 8 braids the night before, that should suffice.

i used to blowdry, but i got paranoid about heat damage so now i sit underneath a dryer for about 30 mins before i braid/twist it..but isn't that just as damaging?

I rarely blowdry for any reason. But if its to help someone else braid it then I'd say do it.

I usually do my extension braids after washing/DCing so it's still pretty wet and I rewet before braiding if it's dry. I also like to braid my cornrows with the DC in it, so it's still wet then.

I've found that banding leaves my hair like it would be had I blow dried it. My fro in my siggy was banded.

I am in the process right now of doing the tension method. I love this way of blowdrying.

It seems to be less damaging to my hair.

i'm on a lazy kick so i got kinky twists put in. i mentioned to the braider that i am a long term transitioner and asked how she would prefer me to have me hair. she said that for the twists, damp hair is better. so i washed, detangled and put my hair in about 10 big twists to make it easier on her.

I don't have to. My braider kicks boootay. She's so easy with my hair that I haven't had a problem in it's natural state, or blow dried. So I don't even bother now.

I blow dry when I'm getting cornrows now for 2 reasons:

1) As my hair dries the cornrows get tighter leading to a headache.

and

2) It's MUCH easier to part when it's straight so saves time.

I don't get individual braids (don't wanna sit for that) and when I do my twists I do them damp, with a spray bottle close at hand.
