Deep conditioning with IC hair polish serum

or any hair serum mixed into your conditioner is the BOMB! I ran out of deep conditioner so I mixed IC hair polish serum with a basic 3-5 minute leave in. I treated it like a deep conditioner because I also added olive oil to the mix.

..did my house chores then washed out. Viola! Soft 18 weeks post hair.

Anyone else do this? What mixtures do you use? or tricks?

I am head over heels with this long stretch method!:drunk:

^^^ good stuff, adding silicones to my conditioners always helped me to detangle, i started doing this when i stopped using heat so much and i had all these serums hanging around to use up

I use the serum for my braid outs while my hair is flat ironed. I evenly apply pink lotion, and I follow up with this serum. It leaves my hair moist and shiny when I take the braids out - so, I love it too!

It definitely gives you slip in the detangling process. A must for long stretches. I use IC hair polish with my deep or regular conditioners. Biosilk I use when air drying. I can't afford to use the more high end brands for wash outs.

My mother used my Amika serum as a leave in and has been raving about how easy it was to detangle her natural hair with it. Plus she loves how it smells. I think it has argan oil in it.

Interesting- I have some IC Olive oil polish serum from before my forum days that just sits under my cabinet collecting dust. I will have to try this

Aw, ya’ll just messed up with this post. I have a whole bottle of that serum and didn’t know what to do with it since I don’t straighten my hair that much. Thanks for the heads up, I will be adding this to the DC tomorrow!!!!!!!!

PositivelyRadiant, I have no clue what the ingredients in silicon mix is. Silicon mix works but it has not been on my radar to try in AWHILE. I completely forgot about Dominican products until your post. Which reminds me, I should try there wheat germ mask again.

As for hair serum in deep conditioner, I like the outcome I get using this method. I can't compare it with silicon mix.

I might try this with my Skala fruit cocktail mask. It left my hair soft, but didn't give me a lot of slip. If it works, it will help get me by until I get my Silicon Mix in the mail.

i have some of that polisher. a whole bottle in fact. i didn't like it as a heat protectant serum and i didn't like it over my wash and go. i'm gonna try it in my dc now, because i want to be rid of it.♥

Such a good idea!!! Thanks OP! I have two half empty bottles of Hair Polisher that I need to use up. I will try mixing half a teaspoon in with my Aubrey Organics becaue they have no cones and I noticed my hair dries better when I use conditioners with a touch of cones.

hmm... :scratchch I think I might try this..I have a bottle of ORS serum in my stash that I could use..it sounds amazing.

I am back to report that I tried this and it works. Today after my relaxer, I DCd with equal amounts of Elasta QP Intense and Aubrey Organics White Camelia Conditioner, mixed with some olive oil and a few drops of IC Hair Polisher Serum. It was one of my most succesful DCs to date. Thanks for the tip, I will definitley be using this again in the future.

This sounds like a good idea, to juice up an ordinary dc. Has anyone done this long term? And do you find you have to clarify often?

What a great idea! I will be trying this in the near future.

^I was thinking of it as a homemade Silicon Mix, too.

P. S. :look: I am back again to confirm that this is a SERIOUS tip!!! This is the first time in 9 months of my hair journey that I woke up and didnt need to moisturise. My hair is always dry as bones in the morning. I never used to understand when ppl said their hair stayed moisturised for days cos mine usually needs it like 2x a day. The only thing I did different was adding the IC serum to the DC because I have used the same conditioner mix before, which worked, but not this well. OP, you have opened my eves to a new level of deep conditioning!! :lick:

wow, will definately be trying this as i have a bottle of polisher that i stopped using cos I stopped straightening my hair

I will be trying this very soon.I have about three bottles of this stuff just sitting around.

Thanks for the tip!!

I am happy it is working for you!

Newbie here.

Fantasia IC for detangling has completely changed the way I relate to my hair. I randomly bought it at Sally's a couple of weeks ago after months of crunchy, tangled hair that was breaking and driving me nuts. I mixed it with L'Oreal Mega Moisture with Sunflower Oil and wow, what a difference. I was able to detangle my hair in minutes, rather than the almost-hour it would take. Here's my air-dried 4a braidout after my first treatment is in my sig. My hair isn't healthy yet but it has made it so much more manageable that I actually decided to participate on LHCF! I was thinking of cutting it all off out of frustration but now with the slip I need, I'm going to focus on growing it.

I have tried it and I love it. It's even better with steam! I've added this to even mediocre conditioners like Skala G3
