Mhmmm, you think you sooooo funny!!!!!

Anyways, I tried this method and really liked it. I dry deep conditioned with Humecto and EVOO for about 2 hours (no heat), then I shampooed and conditioned again with Humectress. I was nervous at first b/c I had some tangles in my hair, but they came right out! My hair seems super-moisturized too. I think this method is a keeper, it also simplified my routine a good deal.

yeah you betta post your regimen asap!

I'm a bit skeptical about this method because wetting the hair loosens the cuticles and allows them to open slightly. This would allow the deep conditioner to go in to the hair strands and actually make a difference in the hair. This is what happens also when you apply heat, which is why deep conditioning is recommended with a hot towel or under a dryer.

It could also be that because the hair is dry it doesn't absorb any of the conditioner - it just sits on the hair strands and coats it and thus making the hair feel more manageable, giving it some slip. But then once you rinse it off, the benefits of the conditioner are gone.

Just my 2 cents ...

I thoutght about this too but then figured that if using this method with your hair wraped in a plastic cap and/or using a hooded dryer the heat would open up the cuticle letting the conditioner then penetrate into your strands.

I have so many conditioners in my arsenal and I have tried this in the past with the Lustrasilk Aloe Vera Cholesterol and evoo/honey and my hair did feel moisturized.

I never would of thought that using conditioner on dry hair before washing would work either, but it did. The Aubrey conditioners explain on the back that is the method the recommend for deep conditioners, but I have never seen this printed else where.

Also this method doesn't seem to work as well with other conditioners. It may because the Aubrey conditioners I use are cream based ( the first ingredient listed is coconut fatty acid cream) and my regular condtioners are water based (ie Kendra). My water based conditioners worked better with traditional methods, but the creamy conditioner excelled with the dry method. Ummmm, I think I'm on to something.

Co-signing...the molecules in the deep conditioner would have to be small enough to penetrate/open the cuticles on their own for the benefits to be achieved. I've always applied conditioner to my hair after removing as much water as possible with a dry towel, so it is slightly damp and not wet.

Which is what I did.

i think it was Cains....i bought it at BJ's and didnt like the flavor (im a hellmans girl) so i used those two big ole jars on my head over the course of the summer....miracle whip is NOT mayonaise!!! that stuff will *** your hair up, good!

I also read on Aubrey GPB for deep conditioning apply to dry hair from scalp to ends, leave on for 15 mins, then shampoo and condition as usual. I wondered how that would work ,but since soooo many of you say it worked good than I'll try it. I guess it won't kill me since I'm a Product junkie anyway and have tried sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many. i know by now my hair is screaming "GIRRRL YOU BETTER MAKE UP YOUR MIND"( HA-HA) . I'm going to try it today or this weekend.

i guess applying a deep cond to dry hair as a pre-poo sounds like a great idea. but another issue is that i typically wash my hair once a week, and so my hair already has 7 days worth of moisturizers/grease etc etc in it.... it'll probably absorb more of the deep cond if i rinse all that off first and then apply it. Now probably for people with type 1 hair who wash once a day and generally don't put nothing in their hair but a light spritz of leave-in and hairspray...perhaps they dont have alot of buildup and the deep cond will penetrate.

Just thinking outloud here...

Are people still using this method? I'm glad to hear of all the success but I'm wondering if you guys still get clean hair afterwards, as in no build up? I think someone else mentioned this sitting on a couple days worth of product in the hair already then adding this? Seems to defeat the purpose of shampooing or COWing...Just curious, because I tried it on towel dried hair and noticed less of an effect but I'm willing to try again though, cuz I trust you guys  .

One option may be to shampoo your hair and towel dry/airdry first, and the apply conditioner when its almost dry. rather than applying on hair with product buildup.

I tried this method for my conditioner wash! I smoothed on some Herbal Essences Hydrating Conditioner and left it on for about 1/2 hr under a plastic cap and then added water and more conditioner to wash my hair. My hair felt ultra moist, fuller and very soft, when dry. I was very impressed because last weekend the shampoo I used stripped my hair, but using products on dry hair works for me and is definitely a keeper.

I have used this method many many times using just cheap conditioner and it works great, the slip i get is amazing. I believe its one of the factors that helped me stay natural as it made living with my hair so much easier. Come to think of it when I used to do this religiously i didnt have a split end in sight...
After leaving it on for an hour under a plastic cap i would rinse and then do a c/o wash with a deep conditioner and then rinse that off.

I tried this method yesterday and it is definitely a keeper for me. I'm also natural and fine haired. This provided so much strength and slip to my hair.

I remember I use to use this method when I regularly CW. I'll put on the conditioner on dry hair, and take a shower with my hair under a shower cap or in a bun (letting the water vapor steam it), then I CW it out. I only did it that way because it made my morning go by faster because I tend to be extra slow in the shower when putting conditioner in my hair
