In the newest SELF magazine, I read that hair reaps more of the benefits of a deep conditioner if you apply it to dry hair. The theory is, when your hair is wet or damp, it will absorb less of the deep conditioner. I tried it last night and I think it does work pretty well. Has anyone else tried this?

Hmmmm, interesting. So, when do you shampoo?

i tried this last time i deep conditioned and i honestly didn't see a difference
maybe i did something wrong

As far as shampooing is concerned, I guess you'd skip. I conditioner wash my hair everyday or every other day anyway, so I'm not concerned with it being clean. I only use shampoo once or twice a month.

this is the only way i do it....i put whatever condtioner im using on my dry hair and let it seap in....then i rinse, shampoo, ACV, condition.....

I've done this and I end up using a lot of conditioner. I feel like its a waste. Wouldn't you think that a wet sponge is more absorbent than a dry one?

What I do is after I shampoo.. I use a super absorbant towel on my head and leave it on for 10 minutes.. when most of the moisture is out and its damp I then put on the deep conditioner. It does work better than conditioning soaking wet hair.

I do this with my conditioner washes. I dunno, my hair always felt better when I put the conditioner on dry hair, as opposed to wet hair. Sometimes, I'll leave the cheapo conditioner on for an hour or so with a plastic cap until I shower. And I may throw some hot oil up in the mix.

this is already my method...i have only done it on wet hair a few times...it was messy so i did stopped..doin it on dry hair is more convient for me too

I do this as well. I use Aubreys GPB on dry hair for 15 mins rinse then shampoo, moist cond....The other days....

I put Aubreys Camilia moist conditioner  on dry hair with shower cap (15-30 min) then rinse and dry in a bun or rollerset (sometimes I will put olive oil on my hair prior to the cond).

I have been doing this for a while and I prefer it this way.

Actually on both of these directions it says for deep condition use on dry hair for 15 mins...and it works for me.

 no...

Anyway, I tried this with shea butter and all I got was a greasy mess that sat on top of my hair that was hard to wash out. Probably a water based conditioner would work better on dry hair.

I used to do this when I did pre-treatments (when I was trying to use up a lot of conditioners in my hair care products stash). I haven't done one in a long time. A lot of the ladies here love to do this with Aubrey Organics GPB.

I always do my mayonnaise pretreatment on dry hair. I reccomend deep conditioning before wetting your hair to anyone who has limp or fine hair. It is the best conditioning method to do if you want softer curls that are not weighed down.

I do this often, usually overnight or for a few hours. Sometimes I just rinse, but other times I'll shampoo and follow up with a quick few minute rinse out conditioner.

I went to a dominican salon last week and my stylist deep conditioned my hair while it was dry. My hair turned out really nice and moisturized! I did the same thing yesterday, and I can tell a difference in my hair!

Hmmmm....I always towel dry my hair after shampooing before applying conditioner, because it definitely works better that way than on wet hair. But I rarely use conditioner on totally dry hair. Maybe I'll try this today.

Thanks Foxy...would you happen to know the name of the popular towel that is supposed to be tre absorbant?
