Hello Ladies,
My friend has a case of dandruff that she can't seem to shake. Her next stop is the dermatologist but I wanted to see if you ladies have any remedies before she headed there. Her ears are also dry so i was suggesting increased water consumption and flax seeds. So ladies please give me your suggestions
I am waiting by the computer.

Could the dandruff be from build-up on her scalp? Perhaps she could try a good clarifying shampoo. I like the Elucence brand. Also, coconut oil worked wonders for me. When I first started my hair journey, I used to have a problem w. chronic itchy scalp and dandruff and I noticed immediate results when I started using coconut oil on my scalp. :yep: If your friend has a low water intake, than increasing that would be a good idea as well. :yep:

I was also going to recomend oiling the scalp with jojoba since the scalp secretes a similar oil as jojoba.

Is it a case of dandruff, or dry, flaky scalp?

Dandruff is accompanied by an odor.

I would advise your friend to keep her appointment with the dermatologist. However, drinking plenty of water, eating a diet rich in leafy green vegetables, taking a quality vitamin supplement daily, and keeping the scalp clean and well-moisturized are the usual remedies for a dry scalp.

There is a difference between dry scalp and dandruff. Dandruff yields large white flakes, almost as if the scalp is peeling. I have this problem. Dry scalp can be cured through oiling and moisturizing more. Dandruff will only be agravated by that because it's the presence of p.ovale, a bacteria that is causing the scalp to shed too soon.

If you think that it is dandruff, I recommend Nizoral shampoo and Glover's Pomade with 5% sulfur. A tar based shampoo can work well also.

:yep:...and your freind can also use jojoba as a hot oil treatment.

Jojoba conditions the skin too, so she can use it on her ears. I pour jojoba into my lotion or I use it alone, because it's not oily.

Drinking enough water will help too.

Is she relaxed...because relaxers can cause this to happen too? She might want to switch relaxers or stretch her relaxer out by not putting it in as often.

Or...she can try basing her scalp first with jojoba or an oil before applying a relaxer(SHE WILL NEED HELP DOING THIS!)

I used to have dandruff until I started mixing Sulfur 8 and glover's mane. Bye bye dandruff and hello longer hair!
